THE NEW POWERFUL, USER-FRIENDLY AND MODULAR MEASURING SOFTWARE

• Measuring software based on DMIS language• An integrated solution for measuring prismatic

elements of edges and free surfaces • Direct import of native CAD formats (PRO-E, CATIA V4,

CATIA V5, UNIGRAPHICS) and neutral formats (IGES, VDA, DXF)

• Available for manual, point-to-point andcontinuous scanning measurement

• The inspection and reverse engineering of profile is very fast

• Powered by strong tools for graphic programming• The flexible module for graphical output allows

to create custom reports• Graphic results output can be exported both in statistical

format (QS-STAT and SPC LIGHT) and as electronic document (HTML - PDF - MS-WORD - MS-EXCEL - TIFF)

• Use of dual arm measuring system extremely powerful• The modern software architecture allows modular

development. This means that the integration of custom components becomes immediate.

The best-fit is applied with many different criteria and can start from an overall optimisation of the points, to reach the constraint of the single point giving it a relativeweight in the optimising process.

Graphical outputsThrough the Graphical Editor custom inspection protocols can be created.Indeed, all the operator has to do is choose the geometrical ele-ments to be included in the report, and ARCO CAD will do all therest providing the results in a graphic table.

These tools allow you the creation of a large number of graphic formats, to support all the needs of any inspector.

ARCO family:ARCO QUICKThis is the entry level product to measure prismatic elements with the self-teach tools and advanced coding

ARCO GRAPHICS A graphical environment is integrated in ARCO QUICK: the geometrical elements are now displayed in a dedicated area and the use of visualselection helps the operator to quickly choose what to use in the measurements

ARCO CADIntegration of the CAD engine. Now it is possible to import the CAD models of parts and build the programs with the graphical tools and the measurement of complex surfaces

making the generation of perfectly distributed points simple and easy.

Measuring and creating profilesThe data of a profile are collected through continuous or point-to-point scanning: ARCO CAD can reconstruct this curve, and the export to CAD systems is possible.

The reconstruction methods available in ARCO CAD cover the whole range of 2D reverse engineering requirements.

Powerful inspection tools are available for profile-check.

The inspection measurement paths are generated and a graphic table provides all the metrological information for the profile.

Best-fit tools allow optimisation of the results, and the rotation and translation values applied are included in the graphic report.

Optimisation of an existing reference Once the measurement is finished it is possible to optimise the deviations of a set of elements.

This procedure allows the creation of new references based onoptimised points.

The operator can choose among the possible measuring strate-gies and decide the best distribution of the points.

Once the path has been accepted, the machine will run themeasurement automatically.

An inspection path can be combined with TEACH CAD programming, MANUAL programming or with other inspectionpaths. This makes the measurement of geometrical elements extremely flexible, with the possibility to solve any access problem.

Alignment on free formsThrough the use of the CAD model it is possible to create reference systems on free forms.

After measuring the reference points ARCO CAD automaticallycreates the required reference system.

Measuring surfaces and edges in real timeWith ARCOCAD it is possible to inspect free forms and edges.

Every measured point is instantaneously compared with the CAD model, and the deviations are given in real time.An inspection path can be created for surfaces too,

Software for self-teaching and non CAD-based advancedprogramming.

DMIS EditorThe ARCO engine fully supports the latest version of DMIS language; no translator is used because the DMIS code is directly executed. The portability of the programs created with ARCO is guaranteed by use of the DMIS.The program is shown and modified with an intelligent “color code” editor. Thanks to the SMART DMIS the operator is helped in advanced-languange programming.

Self-teach PanelThe programmes in DMIS format are generated automatically by the system during the measurement of the first part.

The panel is divided into 5 areas of different colour:

- Measurement of Geometrical Elements- Application of ANSI tolerances- Part alignments- Input - Output- Probe Management

Each area has icons to open the interactive windows.

The necessary DMIS code is generated automatically: a very easy way to build the program!

Probe ManagementThe calibration Wizard makes probe qualification quick and efficient.

In particular, the management of conventional styli is facilitated bythe possibility to choose the angles of the motorised head from a table.

Page 5: - Torino - Coord3 CMM Software and Metrology Solutionscoord3.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/ARCO-Metrology... · 2015-12-08 · - Torino Ed. Sett. 2003 ... Automatic cycles Tolerances

that an analysis of the measured values, and a test of the advanced code is possible in real time.

Tool changer managementThe use of the tool changers is transparent to the operatorbecause it is integrated in probe management.

At each request for a new tool, the system decides whether achange is needed and, if so, starts the procedure automatically.

The system provides a Wizard that build the program to align the tool changer.

ARCO also provides functionsfor loading/unloading tools from the stations, so that to minimising the manual work.

HTM text and graphic outputThe Output is available in the following formats:

• Text: this is the proprietary format saved in text mode.

• HTML: this format can be viewed on the Internet browsers

• Graphical: through the Graphical Report Module it is possible to import photos or drawings of the measured part

and thereby create the personalised report. The Graphical Report Editor allows the use of ready-made templates for the

immediate creation of reports, or the construction of new templates through a comprehensive series of graphical tools.

Graphic reporting can be created off-line, allowing the use of the pakage on non-proprietary systems, making report standardisation possible.

After the required values are typed, the Wizard will create a program that takes care of everything, from the safety positions to the access to the station of any tool changer.

Really interesting is the management of unconventional styliand stars tips, regardless of the angular position of themotorised head.

Interactive windows are provided for immediate management offew probes, allowing the quick qualification of new positions while programming.

Reference SystemsARCO allows to create a reference system either in a traditionalway or through dedicated procedures.

With these tools, the operator can choose the most appropriatemethod for an easy alignment of the part.

Automatic CyclesAutomatic cycles are available to measure geometrical elements.

The system automatically makes a cycle start-button availableto the operator when the nominal conditions allow this procedure.

In this case, the whole path is performed as required, added to the program and thereby made available for subsequent runs.

ANSI TolerancesThe ARCO system handles the geometrical tolerancesin accordance with the international standards.

It is possible to create the DATUM REFERENCE FRAME for every tolerancewith the corresponding modifiers of maximum and minimum material. The tolerance can be sent to the program or previewed for quick part analysis.

Advanced ProgrammingBesides teach programming, the system allows the use ofadvanced language for creating the parametric code. This allows the definition of macros for customised functions.

In fact, the macro manager allows the creation of new functionsthat can be called from a user-friendly panel while programming.

For more experienced users, the project manager allows the use of libraries defined in external files, thereby ensuring portability between different systems.

Data DisplayDuring the measurement or while running the program, the data are always available in a viewer.

All the necessarily categories are gathered in a single area:Geometrical elements - Tolerances calculated - ProbesReference Systems - Advanced language variables

At any time, the operator has complete access to all the data, so

An advanced measuring system is completed with the integration of a powerful CAD engine.

Through the use of mathematical models, operators can carry out programming without any manual measurement: the machine is asked by the system to measure the selected geometrical element, and everything goes along automatically.

ARCO CAD completes the GRAPHICS version, by the addition of the following features:

Import of native CAD formatsARCO CAD manages direct import without conversion of the most used CAD formats:

CATIA V4, CATIA V5, PRO-E, UG.

For all other cases, the neutral IGES, VDA and DXF formats will be used.

Layer CAD managementWhen a CAD model is brought in ARCO CAD the layer structuredecided by the designer is maintained. The layers can be viewed, blocked or excluded from the calculations. It is possible to associatethem to geometrical elements and then export everything

in a new IGES format. The imported entities can be movedamong the layers making the model organized according to the inspector's requirements.

Group managementDuring the organisation of a CAD model it is possible to creategroups of elements or surfaces. These groups can be used for best fit operations or to force the projection of points only to specific areas.

Extracting geometrical elements from CADWhile programming it is possible to define the geometrical elements selecting them from CAD.

By Sselecting the geometrical entities, the CAD engine will return the nominal feature required to start the inspection.

TEACH CAD programming On motorised machines it is possible to teach the point to be picked by selecting the points directly on the mathematical model.

At every click the machine will measure automatically, with no manual teach process.

Inspection Path programmingOn motorised machines it is possible to create the inspection paths automatically

Page 6: - Torino - Coord3 CMM Software and Metrology Solutionscoord3.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/ARCO-Metrology... · 2015-12-08 · - Torino Ed. Sett. 2003 ... Automatic cycles Tolerances

When the graphic support is needed without the use of a CAD model the ARCO system can be extended to the GRAPHICS version.

With the integration of the graphics integration in the ARCO QUICK: everything already all what described in the QUICK version is still available to make the inspection process efficient.

In addition, the use of visual selection is available to help the operator both in the choice of the construction elements and in the creation of graphical reports.

The following features are available in ARCO GRAPHICS:

Machine volume and probe representationThe graphic area displays the machine configuration.

The probe is represented, by size and direction, in the actualposition within the machine volume.

Probe movement is updated in real time.

The safety positions could be graphically set during programming, by use of using a handle.

Representation of the measured geometrical elementsEvery measured feature is shown in the graphic area and madeavailable for geometrical constructions or for the graphical representation of their associated form error.

An amplification factor makes graphically more evident any distortion.

A quick printout of the form error report provides all these data on paper.

Reference system previewDuring the creation of the reference systems it is possible to preview them.

At each request the representation of the new reference will flash on the screen.

The operator can therefore view the reference in advance and make any necessary corrections.

Graphic GOTOOn motorised machines it is possible to create the probe positions from the graphic environment.A graphic handle allows the probe to be placed in a new position that will be reached by the machine.

The movement at specific given co-ordinates can be easily setthrough an interactive menu that allows to choose among absolute, relative or along the probe axes.

The handle can lock the axes and get make easier the definition of a new position.

Representation of Form ErrorsThe geometrical elements can be monitor while programming, bad points can be graphically excluded from the calculation in order to realize a better inspection. Once the measuring is finished, the data points of the feature can be analysed, and a graphical printing is possible of the form deviation and all the metrological information.

Inspection Path programmingOn motorised machines it is possible to pre-define measuring paths (strategies) on geometrical elements.

The operator can choose between several possible strategies to decide the best distribution of the points.

Once the path has been accepted, the machine will run the measurement automatically.
