Live –Wells are now required on all boats – New since the 2003 Season!

Our tournament permit requires that every boat be equipped with a working live-well to insure the healthy handling of your catch. This

assures that the fish we return to the water will remain healthy to be caught another day.

We, the C.R.C.C. Fishing Tournaments, will now require that all boats have a working live-well to qualify and enter our tournaments. We

understand that many of our members’ boats are not equipped with a built in live-well so we will except a home made version as long as it

has a working aerator. Included are directions for building a home made live-well out of a cooler. This can be accomplished with a little

planning and for a nominal fee.

Making a small effort now will help to ensure bigger and healthier fish in the future!

Materials needed:

Small bilge pump

Plastic hose long enough to reach from the bottom of the cooler and wrap around the top –

check size to match your bilge pump 5/8” or 3/4”.

Wine cork or other type of plug

2 hose clamps

2 battery clips

2 lengths of wire to reach your battery

Your cooler should be at least 24” long

Simple live-well

Connect the bilge to the bottom of your cooler

Connect the two long lengths of wire to the leads on the bilge pump. Make sure the connections will not be in the

water when filled. Now connect the battery clamps

Connect the plastic hose to the bilge pump, run the hose around the top portion of the cooler above the water line.

Cut the hose to length, insert plug, and hold together with hose clamps.

Now that the hose is in place drill 1/8” holes in the hose so it will spray water back down into the cooler, holes

should be every 2 to 3 inches.

Don’t forget the bucket to fill the live-well.
