RECYCLING COLLECTION BEGINS AT 6:00 a.m.

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson is pictured with Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Sea Star Marine Camp at Fuch’s Pond Preserve in Northport, along with a local artist to oversee the creation of an outdoor mural. The mural will illustrate the environmental importance of the Crab Meadow Watershed area and will provide a glimpse of the multitude of marine life that calls this estuary home.

Councilwoman Susan Berland attends a meeting with Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society volunteers. The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society is dedicated to keeping the lighthouse open to the public for educational purposes and has recently begun a program to help teach environmental awareness and local history to Huntington students.

Councilman Mark Mayoka with Janet Byler and USMC Captain James Byler at the completion of the renovations at the Byler’s home by “Building Homes For Heroes” a charitable organization that builds and modifies homes for veterans with disabilities.

Councilman Eugene Cook enjoys a welcome bit of laughter while assisting local residents with the clean-up from Hurricane Sandy. “Yes, I thought bringing my own equipment could be of assistance to our Town residents,” states Gene Cook.
