APPPEXPO 2012 hall N1 general view. This hall was dedi-cated only to the CNC machinery (laser, routers, trim-mers, plasma, etc.)

2012CNC
IntroductionDuring APPPEXPO 2012 there was a hall dedi-cated only to the CNC machinery (laser, rout-ers, trimmers, plasma, etc.); there were so many companies exhibiting this type of equip-ment that you could almost find them in all the halls. Unfortunately at this moment FLAAR just covers the CNC flatbed cutters applicable to the digital printing industry. That’s why in this FLAAR Review we just mention a few of them.
Today’s sophisticated print shops need to cut thick materials being printed upon by UV-cur-able flatbed inkjet printers. Signage and dis-play are the primary applications but there is a trend to also cut thick cardboard for dispos-able recyclable chairs, tables and bookshelves (from honeycomb sandwich board material).
FLAAR has its own long-range interest in XY cutters for their ability to cut signage and dis-play materials for museum exhibits and to cut materials for making recyclable furniture (with Honey Board, PVC, etc.). In other words, we are inherently interested in evaluating which XY cutter is the best for our own applications. As we acquire knowledge and continue with our evaluations we issue them to the rest of the world as FLAAR Reports.
So, you will notice the hallmark of a FLAAR Re-port: abundant research on multiple examples of a specific digital imaging technology plus an international coverage. To undertake this much research involves thousands of kilome-ters of travel, day after day of taking notes, and then an entire team of graphic designers to prepare the final report. Next comes the team of web designers who put the finished FLAAR Report in to the Internet.

New BIn the New Bull booth they exhibited three of their flatbed cutters, this is just a portion of their complete range of computer-aided manufac-turing (CAM) cutting systems.
At this moment we don’t have enough information to produce an entry-level FLAAR Report about this company and their CAM products.
We hope in the near future to visit their headquarters so we can ex-pand the information.
