Madeley Mustangs worked together to create their first Stick Together mosaic in the library. Students were able to add a few colored stickers each time they visited. Almost four thousand colored stickers later, (3,996 to be exact) the project was complete, and hot air balloons were revealed. There were many great guesses along the way. Students enjoyed the surprise and excitement as the scene came together.

Lunch with Loved Ones

Every student at Lone Star had an opportunity this week to invite a special guest to lunch for their grade level’s Lunch with Loved Ones event. Parents, grandparents, and special friends all joined us for lunchtime followed by shopping sprees at the book fair and silent auction. Organized by PTA, there was a unique auction item created and donated by each classroom. LSE parents ended their time in the computer lab where our student ambassadors greeted them with a chance to complete our Leader In Me parent survey. We appreciate this support and helpful feedback from our families!

In order to deter students from distracted and impaired driving, Montgomery County Shattered Lives staged a realistic, fatal DWI traffic collision in the high school parking lot on April 17 with a follow up assembly the following day. Ninety students participated in the crash scene; however, all juniors and seniors viewed the scene and attended the assemblies.

“It was important for me to be involved because I know a few people who have died because of either drugs or car crashes,” senior Kelsey Knutson said. “So, I thought this would be a really interesting and different way for me to get involved and spread awareness, especially before a time where a lot of people go out drinking.”

With early voting starting on April 22, the newspaper staff interviewed all four candidates for the school board. Russell Messecar and Gary Hammons are running for Position 6, and Kent Pope and Matt Fuller are running for Position 7.

“The goal of this is to involve the high school students that are eligible to vote to do just that,” newspaper sponsor Dayna Lawson said. “I want all eligible voting students, and all community members, to have the opportunity to make an informed vote. Often times, people vote for candidates because of their political party or because their name sounds familiar, when in fact, that candidate may not have the same values as them.”

Features on all four candidates as well as other articles are available at www.thegrizzlygrowl.com.

Fourth grade students in Mrs. Cash’s and Mrs. Serrill's classes have been thinking outside the box while working on their TPSP projects for our district showcase in May!

The MJH Service Club recently went to the Charles B. Stewart West Branch Library, where they were given a tour and learned the ins and outs of managing all the materials in the library.  Next, they assisted community children ages 0-5 with games, crafts, and an egg hunt.  They also met the Easter Bunny and taught him a few popular dance moves.  For the rest of their afternoon, they worked with Mr. Don Carter at Memory Park planting new flowers, weeding the flower beds, picking up trash, and cleaning the plaques throughout the park.

Service Club member, Brayden Harris says, "I joined Service Club because I wanted to help out the community.  It was nice yesterday, because we were able to help parents out with their kids and we were able to help at the park.  We picked weeds out of the flower beds and picked up twigs and sticks off the grass and around the trees.  It was energy consuming, but fun."

Kallie Carver, Felice Hereford, and Makaylee Vanbergen will be presenting on the Bermuda Triangle and will reveal their hypothesis to explain the disappearances associated with that area in the ocean.

Emma Arrowsmith will be presenting on the Loch Ness Monster. Is it a prehistoric swimming reptile? Is it even real? You'll have to wait to see what she thinks!

Michael Brennan and Selah Cosmi's project is based on The Lost Colony. They created an electronic game that will teach facts about the mystery surrounding the settlement.

Keenan Elementary School really gets into the spirit of the seasons. So many folks enjoyed Easter egg hunts last week. The pre-k students showed off their egg finding skills, and the faculty and staff enjoyed a very competitive hunt before leaving for a well-deserved 3-day weekend. Thanks to the KES PTO, teachers and staff received gift cards, jewelry, and of course, plenty of candy.

Kids of All Ages Have Fun at Keenan Elementary

This past Thursday, Oak Hills Lions celebrated a GREAT and successful school year with a day filled with fun activities for our students and staff! We enjoyed delicious Montgomery Original Snoballs and a movie in the cafeteria. Then the students could choose to go to the gym for free play or the library for board games. The highlight of our day was the fantastic Color Run! Our teachers manned five color stations that showered the students with bright color powder as they ran the lengthy course. We were all covered head to toe with the colors of the rainbow. It was such a joy to see everyone smiling, laughing and making lasting memories.

Maddie M. exclaimed, "It was so much fun and a nice break from all of our hard work!" Conner C. thought, "It was a fun and relaxing day. The snoballs were awesome and spending time with my teachers and friends was great!"

Lake Creek is very proud of our Big Blue Band who recently earned straight 1's from all six judges on stage & sight reading for perfect sweepstakes at their first ever UIL Contest! Mr. Eaton tweeted “So proud of this young band & their awesome director, Matt Martinez!”

The stormy weather did not dampen the enjoyment for these fifth graders! Last week they went to the George H.W. Bush Museum and Library in College Station. Students and teachers had a great time learning and making memories. #lovingthelincolnlife

Also in UIL action, the academic team has been amazingly successful in its first year with many students placing in multiple events and a couple of students are even advancing to state-level competition!

On Friday, first graders hopped into the Library for an "Egg"ucational review! Students hunted for 65 eggs containing questions that reviewed concepts taught throughout the year in Math and ELA. They recorded their answers on a ledger, leaving the eggs in place for the next person/group to find. Lincoln bears loved this "eggstra" fun hunt!

Easter Excitement!

Mrs. Stevenson's 4th grade STELLAR students sat around the class campfire and read tall-tales during their language arts time and even enjoyed some 'roasted' marshmallows. They have enjoyed their newfound love of writing this year with Mrs. Stevenson. She makes writing fun, brings it to life, and they are enjoying sharing their pieces with their peers.

Our teachers enjoyed our MES Bearcat 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt. We hid over 200+ eggs AND had 12 sparkle PRIZE eggs. It was so much fun watching the teachers be big kids hunting for hidden treasures. Mrs. Angela German, our Pre-K teacher, found lots of good prizes: jean passes, a $50.00 Sephora gift card, and did I say more jean passes? It was so fun to see the teachers fill their baskets

MES loves to give back to its families, and so does our community. A BIG THANK YOU to Pizza Shack for donating 20% back in proceeds to help The O’Neill Family rebuild. Our MES Bearcat family is not just about being a school family but helping outside the school walls too. We also want to thank our parents and students who supported this fundraiser.

Last week Stewart Creek Pre-K students went on an exciting

Easter Egg Hunt. The students carried their baskets all over the playground to find their

special treats. It was a beautiful day to be outside,

enjoy the weather, and make special memories with

friends. Thank you, Mrs. Brock and Ms. Hanna, for such a fun activity. The kids had a great time making memories

that will last.
