CV Writing & Interview Tips What employers look for! What is a CV?a CV (Curriculum Vitae) is a short list of facts about you, your work experience and your qualifications and skills. a CV is often the first thing an employer looks at, so it is essential that you create a good first impression and sell yourself in the best possible way.

CV Tips1. Make sure that your CV is correct and all

spelling and punctuation is checked. Ask someone to double check it for you.

2. Try to type your CV on a computer using a standard font such as Arial. Keep it simple, highlight headings and use bold. Avoid using fancy fonts or clip art.

3. Keep it short and to the point. A double side of A4 is enough.

4. Be positive, your CV is selling you to an employer. Tell them about your qualifications, achievements, awards, strengths and interests.

5. Don’t forget to include your name, address, phone number and email.

Interviews

interviews can be one of the most nerve-racking aspects of job hunting. But there are plenty of ways to calm those interview nerves!

1. Turn up on time and give yourself plenty of time to get there. Aim to arrive at least ten minutes before your appointment - they won’t mind if you are early.

2. Dress smartly. If you look good you will feel positive.

3. Plan for your interview. Research the company and find out what they do. Think about any questions you may wish to ask them.

4. Make sure that you answer any questions fully, don’t just say yes or no. Give some examples, speak clearly and make eye contact with the person asking the question.

5. Don’t worry if you don’t understand the question – ask them to repeat it.

I enjoy the blend of study and work, and it’s really improved my confidence in speaking with clients and
