Intake Facilities for Water Treatment for Electric Power Industry

Synopsis

Moo Jin Kee Yeon Co., Ltd designs, manufactures , field services and installs water treatment facilities for nuclear and fossil power plant. And Moo Jin has made it possible to offer a wide range of screening equipment corresponding to customer requirements and environmental demands. Water Treatment Systems are used where large volumes of water must be screened to remove floating and suspended material, which might damage downstream pumps and equipment.

Description

Nuclear power plants, fossil power plants, hydroelectric plants, pumping stations, and steel making plants requires huge water resources for cooling and it could be becoming from oceans, rivers or lakes. The water resources are required to be filtered to remove debris, fibrous weeds, solid materials, twigs, fish and other by some facilities. The traveling water screening systems are made to make it possible. All items are designed, manufactured and inspected at Moo Jin’s shop.

Our scope of traveling water screen system

Traveling water screen, bar screen, stop log gate, trash rake and associate equipment.

Benefits

These equipments are safe, reliable and designed to perform effective filtering. The design is removable type for easy maintenance, endure seismic forces and prevent corrosion.

Description

The traveling water screens are designed to be installation on raw water intakes where a continuous and efficient means of removing floating and suspended debris is required in order to protect water pumps, condensers, heat exchangers and other critical facilities. The TWS are designed according to the customer requirements or environmental demands for individual application. And also it can incorporate specific feature to suit the operating site circumstances. The TWS are installed in cooling water intake structures behind bar screens but in front of the circulating water pumps and essential services water pumps. The TWS has two row of carrier chain with screening baskets, two head sprockets with head shaft, two take up devices, a splash house with frame, a electric motor with reducer, and a set of control panel. The carrier chains comprised of links connected by stainless steel pin, bushings and high density synthetic rollers. The two chain sprockets are fabricated of stainless steel and replaceable stainless steel teeth inserts are provided. The TWS is designed with three or two step speed type drive and also capable to be operated with the screening baskets emerging, fully laden with debris.

TWS flow patterns

TWS’s flow patterns are through flow, central flow and dual flow. The through flow TWS is designed for water flow through the screen mesh and discharge keep debris into a trench-uniform flow pattern through the screen. This type is proper to canal of narrow width. And this is installed perpendicular against direction of canal as shown fig1.The central flow TWS types are the water passes into the center of the screen frame and then out through the screening baskets to the clean side of the screen-single entry double exit eliminate debris carryover. This type is prevents debris carry over to the side of the screen.Dual flow patterns TWS is designed for water flow after flowing through the screening baskets to the inside of the screen-double entry single exit flow pattern eliminates debris carryover.Central flow pattern and dual flow pattern TWS’s screening rates is about100% effective submerged mesh area.Since the year 2000, most nuclear power plant constructed in Korea have been preferred the central flow pattern TWS. Because of its high screening capacity and minimized the difference of water pressure between front and behind of the screen mesh when compared to through flow type.

Description

The trash rakes are used and design to clean the bar screens. It travels along the bar screen and is operated by cable winch.

Description

The trash racks are the primary filtration element used to retain bulky and coarse material at the first stage of the water intake facilities, and designed to prevent clogging and the trash collected on the grid is removed by trash rake. The trash racks can be installed and removed at the embedded guide and can be lifted for manual cleaning or maintenances.
