Triathlon is a true test of fitness, skill and endurance. It showcases a combination of three disciplines - Swimming, Cycling and Running - and will award the first gold medal of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018). Fans can be part of the action of Individual Triathlon on Thursday 5 April, followed by the Para Triathlon and Mixed Team Relay events on Saturday 7 April. There are some great spots along the course where you can view the cycling and running stages of the race and cheer on the athletes. Please note only spectators who have purchased tickets will be able to view the start, finish, swim and transition stages.

GC2018 ROADSIDE TIPS
BE PREPARED The only way to get around the course will be by foot so ensure you are wearing comfortable clothing and footwear. Take a hat, water and sunscreen and try to avoid bringing strollers.
Combining the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running, triathletes are the ultimate endurance all-rounders.
At GC2018, these incredible athletes will draw upon all of their energy and mental strength to navigate the fast-paced sprint distance race. For the first time at a Commonwealth Games, Para Triathlon will be contested. In addition to the individual men’s and women’s events, an exciting Mixed Team Relay will also be showcased, with two men and two women teaming up to compete for gold.
TriathlonFast Facts • Women’s Triathlon will be the first
medal event contested at GC2018.• All forms of swimming are allowed
in triathlon, but most swimmers will choose freestyle.
• Para triathletes use a recumbent hand-cycle for the cycle leg of the triathlon. It’s designed to be ridden by the athlete lying almost flat on their back.
• The transition between each discipline where athletes change equipment is known as triathlon’s ‘fourth discipline’.
