Residential Renovation ProjectsConnecting Two Houses

Joining two houses together to make one house can be cost effective. The owners decided that after 38 years they had to renovate their home because it was veryoutdated and did not function as a family home any longer. A second story addition was an option, however the house next door came up for sale and this was anopportunity to purchase an additional parcel of land which gave the owners a total area of 1337.8 m2 of land with two houses, there is enough room to retain the hillshoist.

The houses have the same frontage appearance which was a good start to have a designer engaged to do preliminary drawings.

The final drawings gave us a connecting entrance in the middle of the two homes with high ceiling, 4 bedrooms, 2 family rooms, a formal lounge, two gallery walk waysto each house, a butler's kitchen, dining, alfresco area, library and double garages.

When Matt visited the site to build the house on the hill near Mt Cecilia he said to thecustomer that he needs to build a road from the main road to the house site. So thebulldozers were engaged to construct the winding road to the house location and also furtherup the hill to where the machinery shed was erected. The House was a challenge to all thetrades who worked there because they all had to work out of the ordinary.

From the living area and the main bedroom, the views of the hills are magnificent. The openliving has high rake/bell ceilings spanning 14,200 mm. With 30o pitch gal roof, a verandahwith balustrade all the way around the house. This is a spectacular house on the hill with amodest outlook.
