and illustrates the ability to deliver the “warm” color temperatures and enhance the

This 22-story building was erected in 1964 as an office building and converted about

four decades later to a rental apartment building with 398 units. Now it one of the

Healthcare: First U.S. New Construction Healthcare Facility with LEDs

When Urban Health Plan (UHP) began

construction on the new addition to its main site

at 1065 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY, it wanted to

ensure that the building was energy efficient. To

do so, it purchased a comprehensive range of

LED products from Independence LED. These

LED products use half the wattage as typical

fluorescent tubes. The applications ranged from

the hallways and support areas to the

examination rooms and diagnostic areas.

Healthcare: First NAVY Hospital Ship

Independence LED Tubes have outperformed tests initiated in 2011 by the NAVY’s Military Sealift Command

over internal driver tubes. Competing tubes failed given burn-outs from internal drivers, while the

Independence LED Tubes maintained 100% of color and output without a single diode or driver failure.

At the end of 2012, the Ministry of Health for the Republic of

Slovakia awarded Independence LED a 30,000 LED tube order

for its seven major hospitals. This is over a $2M account, six

months in the making. Independence LED was among 5 LED

manufacturing finalists world-wide that were then narrowed to 2.

The Ministry of Health said that Independence LED won the bid,

because the other finalist (one of the largest lighting companies

in the world) had an internal driver LED tube and only a 3 year

warranty. Independence LED has the more robust external driver

technology with the deep fin aircraft grade aluminum heat sink,

over 50,000 hours of life, and a ten year warranty.
