Charming birds-eye map produced by the railroad to try to entice tourists to the Mojave, southern
Nevada (this was before Las Vegas was "Las Vegas"), and the surrounding area, that was also served by
the U.P. with Bryce and Zion shown in the upper right.
The reverse contains information on the Dam and area, including descriptions of the location, the
hydroelectric capabilities, Boulder City, Las Vegas and recreational suggestions.

20.5 cm] Color wrappers. Very good. Vertical fold at center as issued. Cover title: Where Gush the
Geysers. Oregon Short Line All Rail Route to the Yellowstone.
This early 20th century work offers a brief history of Yellowstone, followed by transportation routes into
the park, a description of the geysers (with timetable) and hot pots, The Canyon and falls and the Inns
(lodges) of the park.
Seventeen full-page tinted photographs by Haynes illustrate the text along with two dozen black and
white images and a double-page four color map at the center of the Oregon Short Line / Union Pacific /
Oregon R.R. & Nav.Co / Southern Pacific and connections.

Card Road Maps from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone

route logs [23 cm x 11 cm] printed in
black ink. All cards good or better
with age-toning and discoloring.
The front side of every route log
offers a road map between two
points and the ensuing card, picks up
where the previous map left off.
Distance is noted between towns and
landmarks. Someone had added
manuscript time splits (they left Salt
Lake at 9am). Maps drawn by 'Bell'
The reverse of each has a paragraph
that notes road conditions, speed
limits, and brief observations. Below
this is a list of the towns that one
would pass through on the journey
and their population.
Cards present are: 'Salt Lake to
Ogden' / 'Ogden - Brigham -
Tremonton' / 'Tremonton to Downey'
/ 'Downey to Pocatello' / 'Pocatello

1920s Utah Pocket Map

[71 cm x 53 cm] Overall very good with some minor sporadic splitting at the folds.
Pocket map that locates the State Capitol, county seats, county lines and other major towns, as well the
rail lines through the state. Population figures at the left margin. The reverse contains a road map for the
state that locates all the major auto routes of the time, including Lincoln Highway (I-80), Arrowhead
National Trail Highway (I-15) and Banff-Grand Canyon Road (U.S. 89).
Advertisement for Delta [Utah] Lumber & Hardware Company on the front and rear panels, and at the
head of the map.

Self-published LeConte & Zipporah Stewart Book Signed
10- Stewart, Zipporah L. [LeConte Stewart]. Door to Noisemakers Inn. [Kaysville, UT]: [1976]. [391pp]
Octavo [23.5 cm] Lime green cloth with a color pictorial front board. Very good. Twenty-three pages of
black and white photographs near the center of the text block.
Signed by LeConte Stewart at the lower margin on the right side of the color frontispiece (which is one of
his paintings), on the left side of the lower margin, he has written the title of the painting "The Shed,
Gran(?) Valley."
Additionally, inscribed by the author, Zipporah, on the front flyleaf.
Zipporah Layton was born in Utah in 1894. She married LeConte Stewart, a well-known artist, while he
was painting the murals for the Hawaiian LDS temple. They returned to Utah settling in Kaysville and
were the parents of four children. Stories concerning their lives and those of their ancestors make up this
volume written by Zipporah Stewart.
Self-published with a presumed small print run. I am able to locate three institutional copies.

Uncommon Polygamous Wife Biography
11- Thurston, K.K. The Winds of Doctrine: The Story of the Life of Mary Lockwood Kemp in Mormon
Utah During the Last Half of the Nineteenth Century. New York: Exposition Press, 1952. First Edition.
259pp. Octavo [22 cm] Gray cloth with the title stamped in green on the front board and backstrip.
Good/Near fine. Jacket split at the front hinge with some chipping to extremities, including a thumbnail
sized chip to the foot of the rear panel. Interior clean and bright.
Lengthy Inscription from the author on the front free endsheet: "To Marie Hollingshead from the author
for Jan 28th." followed by two short poems with the author's signature at the foot. Mary Lockwood was
a British convert, that made the trek to Utah. Here she became a polygamous wife, and settled in
southern Utah. This work was penned by her daughter.
Uncommon title, rare in jacket.

12- [Mormon Kitsch]. 10 Faith Promoting Cards. [Salt Lake City, UT]: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints, (c.1959). 10 color faith-promoting cards [14 cm x 10 cm] All cards very good or better. Some
gentle rubbing at the extremities and some show age-toning to the reverse.
Cards produced as reminders to "Be Honest with Yourself" and to "Know the Truth - Keep the Faith."
Each card contains a color illustration on the front with the reverse containing a few paragraphs of faith-
promoting verse, quotes, helpful hints, etc.
The cards are: 'More Precious Than Rubies' - 'Keep Faith with Your Family' - 'We are Making Memories' -
'This is the Life' - 'The Search for Truth' - 'Read it...test it' - 'Living Prophets' - 'Dare to be Different' - 'Add
Prayer' - 'A Religion Worth Learning'

Rare Utah Pre-Prohibition Work
13- [Utah Teetotalers]. Prohibition as a Christian Measure. Salt Lake City: Democratic State Committee,
[1909]. [4pp] Single sheet [23 cm x 30 cm] folded in half. Very good.
This work opens with a swipe at then Governor Spry, who vetoed a local prohibition measure. Following
is a list of the Board of Trustees of the Anti-Saloon League of Utah, the list is made up of local religious
and civic leaders (including Heber J. Grant). The ensuing two pages is dedicated to local religious leaders'
favorable views of prohibition, including almost an entire page from Joseph F. Smith. The final page
includes a final swipe at Spry and an "Anti-Saloon League Legislation Map -1910."
I can locate a single institutional copy (BYU). Not in Flake/Draper. Rare.

Commission Price Lists. Each is 16 pages. Sextodecimo [17.5 cm] Printed color wrappers. Most are very
good or better. (with) 12 Utah Liquor Control Commission Supplementary Lists. Each varies in length.
Mimeographed and corner stapled 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. (with) State of Utah Liquor Control Act. 1937 72pp.
Narrow octavo [23 cm x 10 cm] Tan printed wrappers. Near fine.
Each contains a list of state liquor stores and package agencies, which is followed by all of the different
spirits and the sizes and prices of each. The rear panel contains a list of closings due to holidays.
Presumed uncommon.

Contra Costa Co, 1915. Missing person circular [28 cm x 22 cm] Very good. Two vertical folds. One
horizontal fold. Glue residue at the head on the reverse.
"..He is said to be bright for his age and is very anxious to earn money, has delivered parcels in San
Francisco. All officers are kindly requested to make a diligent search and inquiry for this boy as his
parents are very anxious to learn his whereabouts.." - excerpt from the text.
