Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrew 13:8

www.trinitystjoe.org February 23, 2018

Throughout the Lenten season I will be sharing Lenten devotions from “The Act of Lent.”

Look!

“They did not obey or incline their ear, but, in the stubbornness of their

evil will, they walked in their own counsels, and looked backward

rather that forward.” Jeremiah 7:24

There doesn’t seem to be much action in looking, because the act is so natural.

We viewed our world from the moment we were born, and we continue to look

around us every day.

But sometimes we don’t see: when it’s dark or we’re sleeping, when our eyes are

closed or covered, when something happens around a corner or behind our

backs, when we simply are not paying attention.

Jesus went to the cross and stayed focused on His

mission for us. He continues to give us forgiveness

when we lose sight and our vision is blurred.

So really look at what you do today. Are you

moving forward? Are you keeping your eyes on

God? Do you have “Cross- Eyes?”

Mrs. Bird

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL CONCERT BAND

Concordia University – St. Paul Concert Band will be in Michigan on Saturday, February 24th

for a music concert at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. Trinity is pleased to host this

delightful and brilliant group under the direction of conductor Aaron Isakson. The Concert Band

is traveling from Minnesota and stopping here as part of their 2018 Upper Midwest Tour. The

concert is at 7:30pm in the sanctuary. The hour-long event is free and open to the public. Please

plan on attending this enjoyable and complimentary event.

We will also be hosting the band members overnight. We’re looking for host families willing to open their hearts and their

guest rooms to a couple of students of the 45-member band. Then in the morning, return them to Trinity (10am) where they

will accompany the congregation in song at the 10:30am service before their drive to Detroit. Please consider assisting us in

this endeavor and showing a few students from Minnesota true Michigan hospitality. If you are unable to provide housing,

but still want to help, you could help to serve the dinner prior to the concert on Saturday evening. Contact Paula Steuernagel

or the church office at 983-5000 for more information.

Come out on Saturday, February 24th

and enjoy beautiful music and support Lutheran education

nationally. Thank you.

8th grade students are encouraged to attend the screening of “To Save a Life” February 25 at 5:30 in the Light House Café. The movie is a powerful discussion tool about the consequences of peer influence in high school. Pizza and dessert provided. Contact Vicar McCalley with questions.
