Circular-column formers for different surface finishes
Tubbox® & Fratec co lumn fo rmers
We offer you different possibilities for the surface fi nish of circular
columns.
■ “Spiral” version – concrete surface with a slight imprint of the
spiral former and some blowholes
■ “Smooth” version – concrete surface with a smooth quality
fi nish with some blowholes
■ “Profi led” version – concrete surface
with quality individual fi nishes
■ “Blowhole-free” version: Optimum concrete surface quality,
virtually blowhole and blemish free surface.
The use of a Zemdrain® CPF liner with circular column formers
guarantees quality concrete surfaces:
■ virtually free of blowholes and other blemishes
■ lower water / cement ratio
■ increased hardness and tensile strength
■ improved freeze / thaw resistance
■ reduced microbiological growth and improved hygiene
■ uncontaminated by release agent residues
Blowhole free circular columns are especially suited for
use in concrete structures with direct water contact
(e.g. drinking water reservoirs, wastewater structures,
waterways etc.).
Zemdrain® is DuPont’s registered trademark.

Since June 2009 the concrete letters “BEUTH HOCHSCHULE FÜR TECHNIK” have
been an eye catching feature decorating Luxemburg Street in Berlin.
Located at Campus Hill in Berlin Mitte (Central Berlin), this work of art with an overall
length of 43 metres was created using 173 metric tons of exposed concrete.
The letters were constructed using a specially designed Fratec formwork.

A unique form of seating made of exposed concrete was installed for the residents of the Bischof-Paulus student home at Innsbruck, Austria. These seats also form a light well for the structure’s underground car park. The homogeneous surface and the optimum shape were realised with Fratec special formers.

Individually designed recess formers
Fratec for recesses and vo ids
Recesses in walls or slabs are required both for precast elements
and for in-situ construction, for installation of wall openings,
domelights, round windows, built-in illuminators, columns etc.
The precisely fi tting Fratec formers enable the production of
the required recesses – complicated formwork erection using
conventional formwork elements is no longer required.
The lightweight complete formers are delivered to site ready for
installation and are fi xed to the conventional formwork. After
curing of the concrete the recess formers can be easily removed
without damaging the concrete.
Fratec ensures that intricately designed concrete surfaces can be
produced in various colours. The desired optical effect is achieved
by using recess formers for the fi rst pour and different colours of
concrete for the second pour.

Formwork for profiled surfaces
Insitex® formwork l i ne rs
Profi led formwork liners – the cost saving opportunity for
producing individual concrete surfaces!
Insitex® formwork liners can be used for square and round columns
(see page 10) and walls.
Insitex® formliners are available in a number of different patterns to
reproduce in concrete ribbed, timber, brick and masonry effects.
Individual designs upon request.
If handled carefully the Insitex® formliner, which is attached to the
supporting formwork, is suited for multiple uses. For easy removal
of the Insitex® liner and for creation of an optimum concrete
surface we recommend the use of Trennfi t release agents.
The formwork can be stripped at any time after concreting.
If Insitex® remains attached to the in-situ concrete until completion
of construction works, it additionally protects the concrete against
damage and contamination.

Metal box-out shutters (1):
■ Box-outs made of sheet steel easy to transport and to assemble.
Floor-edge insulating forms DIS (2):
■ In masonry construction DIS is used as fl oor edge insulation
and as additional insulation to prevent thermal bridging.
Permanent formwork made of fi bre concrete (3):
■ Used for semi-precast balconies
■ Used to mask the joint between concrete pours
■ Used as fl oor edge forms
Cardboard box out forms (4):
■ Coated cardboard boxes offer an economic, rational and
cost-saving solution for slab recesses. An integral cover
prevents accidental fi lling of the box with concrete and it is
very stable due to internal stiffening.
Joint profi le former (5):
■ The joint profi le former provides concrete with the optimum
structure for absorption of shear forces at construction joints
between adjacent precast units, between components one of
which is precast and the other cast in-situ and also between
successive cast in-situ sections.
Trennfi t – concrete release agents (6):
■ Trennfi t is suited for all types of formwork (timber board, coated
plywood, plastic, steel and concrete forms).
Trennfi t is available in a variety of formats including Trennfi t B2 a
biodegradable release agent.
