Tufts Global China Connection Chapter Contributions Write-Up This past semester, the Tufts Global China Connection has helped provide the Tufts community with several China-related events. In February, the Tufts Chapter hosted a small round-table discussion with Paul Schulte, a Tufts’ Fletcher School graduate and the global head of financial strategy and research for China Construction Bank. Many of the Tufts GCC members were in attendance, and many asked insightful questions to a very open Mr. Schulte. It was inspiring to hear Mr. Schulte discuss his experience in the financial sector and give our members personalized advice. The Tufts GCC Chapter also held an internship panel in March. The event opened up with the Tufts Director of Asia Relations and Developments, Ming Zhong, conducting a discussion on networking, focusing especially on how to pursue internships and career involvement in Asia. After Ms. Zhong spoke, the panelists, which included students who had experiences ranging from State Street Hangzhou, Hangzhou Municipal Affair, and BBC USA. After the event ended, many of the attendees and panelists stayed to network among each other. Finally, the Tufts Chapter played a major role in facilitating the China-US Symposium put on at Tufts. The Symposium was a three-day event complete with various panelists, break- out sessions, and networking events. Some panels included Internet Freedom, Sino-US relations on the Korean Peninsula, and Chinese investment in the US. Many GCC members were in attendance. The Tufts Chapter provided major funding for the Symposium through applying for extra buffer funding from the Tufts Allocations board and advertised the event through the Tufts GCC e-list and promoted it to other GCC Chapters in the Boston area. In addition to sending out internship opportunities, such as one from Blackpeak Group, a consulting group in Shanghai, the Tufts Chapter has been committed to developing relationships among students and professionals interested in pursuing a career in China.

Finally, the Tufts Chapter played a major role in facilitating the China-US Symposium

put on at Tufts. The Symposium was a three-day event complete with various panelists, break-

out sessions, and networking events. Some panels included Internet Freedom, Sino-US relations
