self-belief and teamwork were going to be key to getting through a rough week Day two saw us swap the big backpacks for daypacks and mountain bikes This leginvolved climbing out of The Basin enjoying a rollercoaster ride into YarramalongValley before climbing up one of the toughest and steepest hills on the coast inBumble Hill and then descending into Hidden Valley and Palm Grove This day wasa highlight for all despite the gruelling and challenging uphill efforts Day three involved throwing the packs back on and hiking approximately24km through the luscious Palm Grove passing Somersby and onto MooneyMooney Creek This was a long day of hiking where the boys had to continuedeveloping their growth mindset by telling themselves they can achieve the daysgoal The Mooney Mooney campsite was just beautiful and all boys made the mostof the rugged but well positioned campsite which boasted a special outlook over thecreek On day four the boys didnt know what they were in for The signs said 22km toPatonga but Mr McGinley and Mr Olzomer knew that these indicators were verywrong and that the actual journey would be 30+km up and over Mount Wondabyne(the highest point on the Central Coast) We were almost at the base of MountWondabyne when the tiredness and frustration kicked in Once everyone collectedtheir thoughts finished lunch and enjoyed 360 degree views of the Brisbane Waterarea we ready to embark on the final 10km descent into Patonga - the finish lineThe pace slowed down but the morale remained high as all participants supportedand nursed each other through the final stage Upon reflection of the adventure it was clear that all participants came out with anew or refined skillset that will help them to manage themselves andothers effectively The boys realised the importance a growth mindset plays inovercoming challenge and adversity Positive thinking grit determination and awillingness to help others ensured we had a successful week A huge thank you to Mr Olzomer Mr McGinley and Mr Holton for their energyenthusiasm and patience in making this challenge happen
