Many people show their concern for the Grand River watershed by putting their own time and effort into projects that make it a healthier, more sustainable place. The Grand River Conservation Authority and the Grand River Conservation Foundation want to support their efforts. Community Conservation Grants help groups carrying out environmental projects and support elementary schoolyard naturalization projects. Community Conservation Grants for community groups Each year, grants worth up to $1,000 are given to qualified community groups for conservation projects in communities throughout the watershed. Previous recipients of Community Conservation Grants have built river access points, carried out habitat restoration projects and built new trails. Community Conservation Grants for schools Elementary schools can apply for grants of up to $750 for schoolyard naturalization projects.
