FIRE UPON THE EARTH: A ‘NEW EVANGELIZATION’ COURSE Our Diocese is offering a nine month course to form people for the mission of evangelization here at St. Joseph Church. The classes will take place on the first Saturday of the month from 9:00am - 12:00pm in the Community Room. This course is a basic introduction to the New Evangelization spoken of so often by our popes in recent years. An evangelistic retreat is incorporated into the content as well as different methods and practical tools available for use in the mission of evangelization. Fire Upon the Earth is open to anyone who wants to understand what evangelization is and can commit to a three hour class once a month from October thru June. Registration is required. For more information: www.diometuchen.org/evangelization or contact the Office of Evangelization 732-562-2469 or at evangelization @diometuchen.org

THE 2017 ST. JOSEPH CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT!

Details on how you can get one will follow shortly.

We expect delivery early in November.

FROM THE PASTOR It’s good to be home! Traveling is such great fun and I had a very nice time away although not a particularly restful one. In ten days I took six flights and traveled to Florida, Austria, Bulgaria and France. Luckily, the day after I arrived home was a Thursday, my

usual day off, so I had a day to recover! While some of it was for fun I went to Bulgaria to attend an investiture ceremony for the Military Order of the Collar of St. Agatha of which I am a member and which I serve as its U.S. Chaplain. The group in Sofia, Bulgaria is small but has shown steady growth in the past few years and it was a privilege to attend and represent our U.S. knights and dames. I missed you and I prayed for you and your families and all your intentions while I was away. In Vienna, I visited six churches in one day and remembered to say a prayer for you in each one! Please take note that my Q&A for October has to be cancelled. I apologize for this but it is unavoidable. There is a conflict with the Diocesan job that I do and I need to be at the Diocesan Center in Piscataway that evening. This rarely happens and I do try to keep my Diocesan responsibilities from conflicting with the Parish. In addition, October is so packed with things on the calendar that there is no convenient night on which to reschedule it. So, the easiest solution, although not the most desirable, was simply to cancel for October. I apologize for that and for the short notice about it. We will resume the Q&A on Monday, November 6 at 7:00PM in the Community room. The Parish finance Council will convene this week on Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00PM in the Rectory Meeting Room. Those meetings are open to Finance Council members ONLY. The Parish Pastoral Council will convene next week on Monday, October 23 at 7:00PM in the Rectory Meeting Room. A reminder that ANY parishioner who wishes to do so may attend a Parish Pastoral Council meeting. However, only the Council members have the right to speak at those meetings. On Thursday, October 19 at 7:00PM in the church there will be a mandatory meeting for all Parish Liturgical ministers. This includes, Deacons, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Altar Servers and Ushers. Letters announcing this meeting were mailed to you over a month ago. If you are a liturgical minister please plan to attend this meeting. May the saints we commemorate this coming week: St. Hedwig, St. Margaret Mary, St. Ignatius of Antioch and St. Luke watch over you. I pray that God fills you all with His love and peace and gives you a week filled His love and peace and gives you a week filled with Blessings!
