They want to see if he is the Son of God, so they decide to torture him and see if God will come to defend him. They decide to condemn him to a shameful death and see if the claims are true that God will take care of him. Second Reading: James 3:16—4:3 James discusses the importance of avoiding jealousy and strife. People should strive for peace and justice instead of concentrating on material pleasures which can tempt people to sin to obtain whatever they desire. Gospel: Mark 9:30-37 Jesus again attempts to prepare his disciples for his death and resurrection, although they do not yet fully understand. They had been arguing over who was the most important one, but Jesus tells them whoever wants to rank first must be willing to remain a servant to all. TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Wisdom 2:12, 17-20 Wicked people discuss their anger at the just one, because they do not like being reproached for their evil ways. They want to see if he is the Son of God, so they decide to torture him and see if God will come to defend him. Holy Family Golden Age Group Spaghetti Dinner & Gift Auction

OCT. 10, 2015 The Golden Age Group of Holy Family is sponsoring a

Spaghetti Dinner and Gift Auction on October 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. The dinner will be held at the Union Hose Firehouse, 1224 Florence Avenue, Union Beach. Cost of dinner $8.00 per adult and $5 per child ($10 at the door – adults). Dinner includes: spaghetti & meatballs, salad, coffee, tea, soda, &

MASS BOOK OPENING FOR 2016 – OCT. 13 The Mass Book will be opened on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 9:00 a.m. in Memorial Hall (not the office). Please use the large parking lot entrance. Mass Stipend $10. Initial Mass request will be limited to 2 weekend Mass requests (Saturday 5:00 p.m. or Sunday) and 3 daily Mass requests.

MTRS Street Devils Mother Teresa Regional School is thrilled to announce that the N.J. Devils "MTRS Street Devils" floor hockey program will be starting its 6th year at MTRS. Boys and girls from grades 1 through 8 can participate. We welcome students who do not attend MTRS. There is no prior experience or knowledge of hockey necessary to play. de Paul Thrift Shop will be moving to its new location in the corner building of Hwy. 36 and Fr. Fitzpatrick Way. Parishioners are invited to lend a much needed helping hand with the move. So, if you are willing and able to assist our Vincentian volunteers for a couple of hours that day it would be most appreciated. Many hands will make for light work. Use of your van and/or pickup would be a plus. Adults only please.

The Altar and Rosary Society invites all the ladies of the parish over 18 to join us for an

evening of fun and fellowship on Thursday, September 24th. The night begins with Mass at 7:00 pm in the Church to celebrate the opening of our 2015-16 year, followed by refreshments and a short meeting and wine, cheese, and cracker social. Please bring a food item for our St. Vincent de Paul Pantry. Items needed: canned soups, jars of sauce, canned vegetables (corn, spinach, etc.), canned corned beef hash, condiments, etc. For more info, please call Kathy Duffy at 732.441-7627.

SIXTH ANNUAL ROSARY RALLY St. Mary’s Chapel

26 Leonardville Rd, New Monmouth You are invited to join in praying the Rosary on Saturday October 10 beginning at 12 noon at St. Mary;s Chapel (rain or shine). This public Rosaryy is sponsored by America Needs Fatima, and will be one of over 11,000 rallies across the U.S. offering reparation for the sins and offenses commitetd against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to fervently pray for the conversion of the U.S. All are welcome. ADORATION RESUMES EVERY WEDNESDAY

HOLY FAMILY CHAPEL Join us every Wednesday following the 8 a.m. Mass in

the church chapel for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, beginning at 8:30a.m. through 3:00p.m. Come cast your cares upon Jesus as He cares for you! Prayer changes everything and we know when we sit with our Lord in Adoration we are transformed by His love! You may visit for any duration of time. Come and leave with the peace and joy this world cannot give.

Forty Days for Life is a pro-life organization that promotes peaceful pro-life demonstrations at Planned Parenthood Facilities across the nation, that are focused on accessing the power of God, through prayer and fasting to bring an end to Abortion. This will start on Wednesday September 23 and end on All Saints Day November 1. This will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on the sidewalk in front of the planned parenthood facility on Neuman Springs Rd. in Shrewsbury. Come volunteer for one hour and pray the rosary or if you cannot attend fast on one of those days.
