Sun, October 5—Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Is 5:1-7 Ps 80 Phil 4:6-9 Mt 21:33-43 The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. At vintage time, the master will return to receive the harvest. May we bear fruit in plenty, and be pleasing in his sight by living lives that are marked by love and respect. Mon, October 6— Weekday Gal 1:6-12 Ps 111 Lk 10:25-37 False tendencies are condemned by Paul. The revelation of Jesus is wrought in truth. We are called to love as God loves. Tues, October 7— Our Lady of the Rosary Gal 1:13-24 Ps 139 Lk 10:38-42 Set apart by God even before he was born, Paul needs no mandate to preach to the Gentiles. Let us await the kingdom and serve the Lord by being attentive to the word. Wed, October 8— Weekday Gal 2:1-2, 7-14 Ps 117 Lk 11:1-4 Paul’s mission to the Gentiles is approved by the Jerusalem church. All are invited to address God as “Father”. Thurs, October 9— Weekday Gal 3:1-5 Lk 1:69-75 Lk 11:5-13 Blessed be God whose Spirit is received not through legalistic practices, but through faith. Be confident in prayer for God is a loving Father. Fri, October 10— Weekday Gal 3:7-14 Ps 111 Lk 11:15-26 Jesus has overcome the ravages of sin and division. Through the covenant made in his blood, we are saved by faith, not by external observances. Sat, October 11— Weekday Gal 3:22-29 Ps 105 Lk 11:27-28 Through baptism we have been clothed in Christ who has done wondrous deeds. We are to hear the word and keep it. . Sun, October 12—Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time Is 25:6-10a Ps 23 Phil 4:12-14, 19-20 Mt 22:1-14 The Lord invites us to a banquet, one of the favorite images of messianic times. This banquet is spread before us and can fully satisfy our needs, yet how often have we refused the Lord’s invitation to share in the riches prepared for us?
COMMUNITY CATECHESIS Whatever is good and true, think about these things.
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Week of October 5, 2014
Listen to the Word (Philippians 4:6-9)
As you hear the word proclaimed today, what admonition of Paul's catches your ear? What part of this reading touches your heart?
Look into your life
Question for children: What makes you feel peaceful inside? What makes you feel restless? Question for youth: How do you thank God for the talents that you have? How do you give back to God through the use of your talent? Question for adults: What steps do you take each week to make sure you are doing as Paul directs: "Live according to what you have learned and accepted."?
Activities for the week
Take these activities to further reflect:
• In today’s parable of the tenants, the landowner gives his tenants a second chance. Have a family discussion about second chances. At the end of the discussion, have each member write down one anxiety that he or she is trying to relieve. To symbolize their being given a second chance, have family members tear their papers into little pieces and throw them away or burn the papers in an appropriate place.
• Today’s parables teach about God’s justice. God’s justice calls us to be caretakers of this world and all its gifts. Talk about the impor-tance of stewardship of the earth’s resources. Begin by taking a walk or drive to look for signs of good stewardship and signs of poor stewardship. Who is responsible for taking care of the earth’s resources? What can we do as a family?
• This week go outside and plant some vegetables or just pull some weeds around the house. You may know an elderly person or someone in your neighborhood that could use some help weeding and cleaning up his or her yard. While you are working in the soil, thank God for the gifts of the earth.
• Imagine that your home is God’s vineyard. What are you willing to do to help make God’s vineyard special? How will you make sure everyone is welcome and treated with love and respect?

Stewardship by the Bible OCTOBER 5, 2014
TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In the Gospel today, the owner of the vine-
yard sent messengers to collect his share of
the harvest from the tenant farmers, but there
was not a single good steward on the prop-
erty! God is the owner, we are the tenants.
What sort of stewards are we?
ponsables somos nosotros?
