WHERE CAN THEY BE FOUND?

The Minnesota Twins use both Twitter and Facebook:

Twitter: @Twins

Facebook: Twins

Blog: Kelly’s Corner

The Twins have all of these things accessible in their “Social Media Clubhouse.”

TWINS AND BLOGGING

Kelly Theiser used her blog in order to report clubhouse anecdotes, funny quotes, news, etc.

Things that aren’t “good enough” to make it in a story, but are good enough to still pass along, generally wind up on the blogging website in one way or another.

Theiser recently used her blog to announce that she was leaving the team to work for the LPGA tour and took the time to introduce Rhett Bollinger, the new Twins beat writer for MLB.com.

TWINS AND FACEBOOK

Like every other team in Major League Baseball, the Minnesota Twins have a large group of followers on Facebook.

The ½ million people who “like” the Twins on Facebook are often treated to extra notes, links, and information about the Minnesota Twins.

Last summer, the Twins held a photo contest – exclusively through Facebook – and the winner of the contest won tickets to the first game of the ‘10 playoffs at Target Field.

TWINS AND TWITTER

Over the past year, the Minnesota Twins have become a MLB leader in terms of generating fan interest through Twitter.

Every Major League team now has a Twitter account, and on top of that, many members of the organization also have Twitter accounts as well. MLB has began encouraging players to start Twitter.

To date, the Twins now have seven players on the active roster who have Twitter accounts and several dozens more within the organization that also have it.

TWINS AND TWITTER (cont.)

President, Dave St. Peter, recently joined Twitter in hopes of getting accurate and time sensitive feedback from fans. St. Peter has tackled questions on ticket information, questions about Target Field, and even insignificant questions team uniform policies and merchandise information. On a typical night, St. Peter will answer around 10 questions from fans.
