In 1900 Smith County was known for peaches with 1 million trees. When a peach blight hit and wiped out most of the industry, the growers turned

to roses and by 1940 Tyler was supplying over ½ the country’s roses.

TYLER STATE PARKThe beauty of East Texas awaits you at this 985-acre State Park. Complete with a spring-fed lake, it’s the perfect setting for fishing, swimming, paddle boating and camping. Visitors may enjoy a 2.5-mile hiking trail, a .75-mile nature trail and a 13-mile mountain bike trail. Accommodations include screened shelters, picnic areas and pavilion, both campsites and RV sites with water and electricity, and restrooms with showers. A concrete launching ramp with a courtesy dock and premium campsites are available.
