The Autocrat... tells people what to do.
The Autocrat has little confidence in the people
he/she works with and distrusts them. He/she
makes most of the decisions and passes them
the line. He/she makes threats where necessary to
ensure that his/her orders are obeyed.
The Benevolent Autocrat ….. sells his/her
ideas to others .
The Benevolent Autocrat sees himself/herself
as a superior figure who makes all the
Important decisions and then convinces
subordinates to go along with them. He/She
may allow some decisions to be made by others
within a framework set by him/her. Rewards as
well as punishments may be used to 'motivate‘
people.
The Consultative Democrat... consultsWith others before making his decisions.
The Consultative Democrat has confidence andtrust in most people and communicates andconsults widely with the people he/she works with.Before making decisions he/she will seek theviews of the people, but he or she will have thefinal say.
The Participatory Democrat... shares thedecision making process with others.
The Participatory Democrat has completeconfidence and trust in the people he/sheworks with. When a major problem arises ordecision has to be made, all the relevantactors are called together to discuss theissues and the majority view is taken as thefinal decision.
The Laissez-faire leader….. just doesn’tcare
This leader is detached and far removed fromthe people he is supposed to serve. He is therenot by choice and has no interest in servingthe position.
