LIQUID COLORis an exploration ofthe complex relationship between

color, water, and light. If used inconjunction, this trio of elementsforms a compound system that hasimmense potential for architecturalskin. While the faade hastraditionally been static in its useof color and material, the buildingsinterior functions and surroundingcontext have continued to evolve

over time. A exible system of colorand water would allow architectureto resituate itself within this variableenvironment, transforming the skininto a dynamic two-way interface.

This thesis explores how an external, secondary skin system can crafta new relationship between the

interior and exterior of an existingbuilding. This system exploits thematerial properties of water in orderto create visual effects like reection, refraction, diffusion, and distortion. These effects have a dual purpose:to bring color and light into theotherwise dark, monotonous rooms, and to mediate the disjunction

between the stylized Tudor Revivallibrary and its vibrant Temescalcommunity.
