Volleyball University of Dubuque vs. Wartburg College Sept. 25, 2007 7:30 p.m. Tonight the Spartans continue their Iowa Conference season against the visiting Wartburg College Knights from Waverly. The University of Dubuque volleyball team finished 3-1 at the Clarke College Invitational this past weekend, losing the opener to the hosts 0-3 before bouncing back with a 3-1 victory over Dominican University, a 3-0 win over Calumet College and finishing with a 3-0 victory over Concordia University (Ill.). Jena Goedken was named to the All-Tournament team after col- lecting 92 kills and 23 blocks in the four matches. By her efforts over the weekend, she moved into the UD record book as the All-Time Leader in kills with 1,647 for her career. She broke the former record held by Greta Pemsl with 1,626 from 1998-2001. She has the following school records: highest kill % in a season (.454); most assisted blocks in a season (156); most kills in a season (652), most kills in a match (38). She is tied for 2nd in the IIAC statistics in kills a game with four, and ranks 6th in blocks with 1.17. Goedken, a senior middle blocker, was named IIAC Performer of the Week in volleyball for her efforts last week. Goedken also averaged 1.69 blocks per game on the week. The Spartans will face a tough Wartburg College squad who leads the conference in blocks (2.61) and in digs (26.56) per game. The Knights rank 3rd in kills (15.00), 2nd in set assists (14.00), and 6th in hitting per- centage.
