This nationally endorsed qualification provides participants with the training, skills and knowledge to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises and includes the ERAC requirements for an Electrician’s Licence. The program directly supports the WA Electrical Mechanic Apprenticeship.

Other electives are available, please discuss with relevant campus. COURSE DURATIONThe UEE30811 qualification is typically delivered for 40 weeks per year over a period of three (3) years. The CET provides enrolments throughout the year subject to apprentice numbers. Upon registration, employers can select from weekly day release, or two week block release training programs. To assist with course programming, the delivery option selected must be maintained for the full calendar year. Please contact the College administration team for specific course commencement dates.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSA training contract must be signed through an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) and registered with the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development – Apprenticeship Office. ‘On the job’ training must be provided by an employer holding a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence. All core units of competency must be achieved and a combination of elective units of competency to a total weighting of 140 points.

COURSE MATERIALSApplicants are required to obtain the following resources prior to course commencement (Available at both CET Campuses):

• Electrical Trade Principles, 3rd Edition, J. Hampson & S. Hanssen;• Electrotechnology Practice, 3rd Edition, J. Hampson & S. Hanssen; • AS/NZS 3000 (latest edition); and• AS/NZS 3008.1.1 (latest edition).

CERTIFICATIONGraduates will be issued with a UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a Statement of Attainment listing each Unit of Competency completed under this qualification.

SKILLS AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION The CET Skills Recognition process benefits applicants who have undergone prior learning and recognises competencies obtained outside a formal educational or training environment, gained through life or work experience. Competencies currently held by applicants will be formally assessed against each applicable Unit of Competency and maybe recognised regardless of how, when and where they were achieved. Skills Recognition is an assessment process and a cost recovery charge will apply.

CET accepts and provides credit to learners for units of competency and/or modules (unless licensing or regulatory requirements prevent this) where these are evidenced by either AQF certification documentation issued by any other RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation or an authenticated VET transcript issued by the Registrar.

FEES / AUSTUDY The College of Electrical Training attracts the same financial support from the State Government as any other Registered Training Organisation ensuring there is no cost disadvantage to employers or apprentices.

Fee reductions are available for apprentices who are able to provide an approved concession at enrolment.

Learners enrolled in full-time courses are eligible to apply for means-tested Department of Training and Workforce Development, Employment and Workplace Relations Allowances.

Applications for allowances can be made through Centrelink.

Fee WaiverFees may be waived for individual apprentices who are able to demonstrate that payment of fees would produce financial hardship.

The College Fee Waiver Policy covering “Financial Hardship” is in accordance with the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development guidelines.

All fees must be paid prior to course commencement. Below fees are determined by the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development:

FEES Non concession student $3.25 per nominal hour

Concession student $0.97 per nominal hour

The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.

Additional fees may apply such as student service and resource fees.

Final capstone fees apply for licencing purposes.
