  • \Vj!Jiam Metrol Davis, affectionately caUecl "\!Viii'\ was born on December 2nd 1954 to the late Peter and Rowena Alina Davis (Neejarrett).

    He obtained his early education at Sandilands All Age School in Fox Hill and continued his secondary education at Bahamas Academy andjordan Prince 'William High School.

    After leaving l1igh school, he chose a career in Nursing, which exemplified his personality and compassion in caring for orhers. His career in the Public Service commenced in October 14th, 1974, where he was

    employed at the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre as an Attendant. He loved helping people and fully committed himself to his profession, excelling as a Trained Clinical Nurse at Sandilands Rehabilitation

    Centre and Princess Margaret Hospital.. Throughout his career, he continued to upgrade his experlise/ skills in various medical and physiological courses. He recently compl.eted a six month Post-Basic Psychi-atric Programme for Trained Clinical Nurses in March 2004 and the Basic Life Support Programme for

    H ealthcare Providers injune, 2004.

    WiJliam accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour al an early age, while worshiping at St. Mark's Native Baptist Church, Fox Hill. During his adulthood, he became a member of Bahamas Faith Ministries International where he was a committed and faithful member. Until his demise, he was very ac-tive in ministerial work at Bfll[, serving in the Host & Hostess Ministry and in the Hospitality Ministry. He was also active in various social activities throughout the Fox Hill community. His affinity to Jesus Christ was evident in his love of serving and caring for others.

    InJanuary 2003, \.'Villiam became ill and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. AJthough he had a

    near death experience, he was resilient and was able to overcome his attack. On Friday, August 13th 2004, death once again caJkd and this time after perhaps catching a glimpse of Heaven and God's glory, William

    decided to change his earthly citizenship for the Kingdom of Heaven.

    Short in stature but big in heart,

    That's what set him apart.

    A giant among men,

    A helping hand he would always lend.

    His boisterous laughter filled the room,

    Casting out all doubt and gloom.

    Scurrying here and there,

    His energy and enthusiasm would never end.

    Eager to please and do what was right,

    He served others with all his might.

    You could call on him anytime,

    He never even seemed to mind.

    Hard working and full of zest,

    Always leaving himself for last,

    First, completing the task at hand.

    Dedicated to the nursing vocation,

    He cared for the sick throughout the nation.

    Courageous to finish the course to the end,

    He must have been from heaven sent.

    Oh how quietly he slipped away,
