The department of Physics organized One Day State Level Seminar on
“Recent Trends in Nano Science & Sci-Lab” on 10th September 2015
The present seminar aims to look into recent developments in the
field of Nanoscience and Sci lab. Nanoscience is a relatively new area of
science which includes Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science,
Computer Science, etc., and its applications are extremely important and
unending, particularly its role in chemical engineering, automobiles,
space, healthcare, defense, telecommunication, information technology,
energy sectors, etc.
The Sci lab is a scientific software package providing powerful open
computing scientific applications which includes hundreds of
mathematical functions with the possibility to add interactively programs
from various languages.
The seminar provides a forum to discuss and present the most recent
developments in the field of Nanoscience and Sci lab.

REPORT ON NATIONAL YOUTH DAY
Organized by Department of Physics 22nd January 2016
Venue: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Seminar Hall.
Every year on 12 January, India celebrate National Youth Day in
order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swamy
Vivekananda the Great Social Reformer of India.
In our college also we celebrate this day by arranging a special
lecture on Yoga. The resource person B. S Vidyananda delivered
a good speech on importance of yoga, as Yoga is an invaluable
gift of India’s ancient tradition which helps to lead a peace full
life.
The students are benefited by this programme their presence is
made this programme successful along with the professors of our
college. And sincere thanks to our beloved principle sir Prof. H B
Kumaraswamy for providing an opportunity to organize this
programme.

PURPOSE OF VISIT: ON THE OCCASION OF OPEN-DAY
DESCRIPTION:
IISC is the one of the best University in India is organizing an
Open-Day Event to showcase its activities to the Student Community and
the general public. This event is organized either last week of the February
or first week of the March in every year in order to Commemorate the
Birth Day (March 3rd) of Jamsetji Tata. He is one of the founder of the
Institution. This event provides a great opportunity for the Students to
gain knowledge about recent developments and discoveries in science
field through live experiments, popular science lecture, scientific demos
and models.
We are very thankful to IISC for arranging this event every year and also
we would Like to thank our beloved principal K.M. Rajanna for giving
permission to visit this Institute and also we would extend our thanks to
our teachers for organizing this visit.

Venue: RANGAMANDIRA OLD BUILDING CAMPUS.
February 28 was designated as National Science Day (NSD)
by Government of India in 1987. Since then this day is celebrated
throughout the country with great enthusiasm.
GFGC, Tiptur every year celebrates National Science Day on
28th February to commemorate the day on which Sir C.V. Raman
discovered the Raman effect.
Our college has taken many science popularization activities
and of these activities National Science Day celebration is one of the
major event. In this year on science day “PAVAADA BAYALU
KARYAKRAMA” a special program was done by Dr. Hulikal
Nataraju, chief guest, which helps to create an awareness on
superstitions among the students.

REPORT ON STATE LEVEL SCIENCE QUIZ
DATE: -20th feb 2019
VENUE:-DR. APJ ABDUL KALAM SEMINAR HALL
State level science quiz is organized by the science forum in
associated with IQAC on 20th feb 2019, which aims to inculcate a
spirit of enquiry and analytical thinking amongst the students
studying B.Sc. courses in various degree colleges of our state. This
competition was held in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam seminar hall.
In this event around 48 teams from 24 colleges are participated, 2
teams from each college. Out of 48, 16 teams were selected for oral
quiz by giving written test. The quiz contains 6 rounds such as basic
science, general knowledge, audio-visual, abbreviation and
identification of pictures, buzzer round and rapid round. For every
correct answer 10 points was awarded.
It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for
the participants along with the audience (other students). With the
highest points G.F.G.C, Tiptur secured first prize, IDSG
Chikkamagalore got second prize and vidhyavahini first grade
college, Tumkur got third prize.

Description: -
The “National science day celebration 2019” was conducted successfully
on 28th feb, 2019 organized by Science forum. Dr. C R Pradeep, Professor,
Dept. of Mathematics, CIT Gubbi, was invited as a chief guest for the
program as our most respected and beloved principal Prof. K M Rajanna
was very particular about inviting him on science day. This event was
inaugurated by Prof. C Krishnappa, Principal GFGC, Gubbi. The program
highlighting the significance of celebrating the science day in
remembrance of Sir C V Raman for receiving the Noble prize for discovery
of Raman effect.
Our college organized following activities in connection with the

Essay competition on “Science for the people and people for
the Science”

Outcome and feedback: -
The entire events provided a platform to the students to prove their
talents, bring out their creativity and face the challenges and also our
college ensures that the students can learn through all possible ways not
just through books and classroom teaching.
The students were excited and overwhelmed to receive the prizes and
certificates over the hands of chief guest during the valedictory.

technological method used to present the information by using text,
images, diagrams with animations and audio-video clips.

INTRODUCTION: -
On the occasion of Science Day celebration in our college, Dept. Of
physics has organized various competitions to the students and Debate is
one of the competition on 27th February 2019.
OBJECTIVE: -
As there is a common saying that Cleanliness is next to Godliness,
it means that cleanliness is the essential part of the healthy life and we can
see the cleanliness in our tradition as well as in our culture also.
DESCRIPTION AND CONCLUSION: -
Clean India is Gandhi’s dream. In order to make this dream come
true our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a SWACHH
BHARATH ABHIYAN on 2nd October 2014. This programme helps to
create awareness about sanitation and also to eradicate manual scavenging
and introducing modern and scientific municipal solid waste management
processes.
So, we select “SWACHH BHARATH ABHIYAN IS NOT A
SLOGAN’’ as a topic for this competition and the students are given good
speech for and against to this topic. Prof. Jyothi Kiran Asst. Prof. Dept. of
Mathematics has helped us to select the winners. The winners are awarded
with trophies on science day.

Objective: - To get practical knowledge and to give an insight about the
way things work in real life scenario, B.Sc Students of GFGC along with
in charge teachers went to the Jawaharlal Nehru planetarium and
Vishveshwaraya Technological Museum, Bangalore on 12th March 2019.
Description: - A visit to these places takes you into a new world of
scientific experiments and engines and speaks about the scientific growth
of our nation.
Outcome/Feedback: -The whole it was exciting and amusing study trip
for the students. It gives very informative knowledge about the
universe/space in a simple yet scientific manner. The people who have a
great interest in astronomy and related facts find this place more interest.

PLACE GANDHI-PARK (INFRONT OF THE COLLEGE)
‘’SHRAMAYEVA JAYATE’’
Introduction:
As a part of extension activity, the students of BSc, under the instruction
of the Kavitha B S, NSS coordinator cleaned the Gandhi Park in front of
the college compound. In order to maintain the cleanliness, the New
Campus of the college on 6th of Septembers 2019.
Participants: The Students of III BSc, PMCs Madhu, Ramesh Kumar,
Vinay and team members. Regular effort of this team helps to maintain
the greenery in the park.
Activities conducted: The students created an awareness in the college
related to cleanliness and the need to keep the campus free from plastic
usage.
Outcomes: In the coming outreach programme, we will extend the
cleaning activity in old campus, in selected parks of the city.

REPORT ON SAPLING PLANTATION
At New Campus Government First Grade College, Tiptur
Introduction:
As a part of outreach programme organized by the college, the students of
BSc, under the supervision of the mentors Kavitha B S and Jyothi Kiran
S planted saplings to beautify the New Campus of the college on 20th of
august 2019.
Participants:
The Students of PCM, PMCs of all First, Second and Third Year actively
donated the pots and saplings to enhance greenery in the college campus.
Activities conducted:
The students learnt to plant saplings.
They planted 40 saplings and fixed stones to protect the pots
They were encouraged to organize the programme and write a report on
the programme.
The students created an awareness in the college related to cleanliness and
the need to keep the campus free from plastic usage.
Outcomes:
In the coming outreach programme, we will extend planting saplings
in old campus, in selected parks of the city.
The students are committed to nurture the saplings in future.

Objective of the Programme
The quality of student’s life will be enhanced if their body, mind,
emotions and life energies are balanced. To attain this objective,
Knowledge of yoga and its practice in our daily life becomes a
must. If through the practice of Yogic asanas, students bring
discipline into their lives, naturally their time spent in the college
campus becomes rich and valuable. Such motivated and efficient
students proactively engage in activities that will inspire other
students. In order to attain this objective a ten-day value based
training programme was organized in the college during 2018-19
by the jointed efforts of the Department of Physics and Student
Welfare Committee from 13-09-2019 to 23-09-2019. 24 students
enrolled for the first of its kind training programme.
The Resource person of the training was Sri Vidyananda B S,
Yoga master, Retired Syndicate Bank Employee, who has 33
years of experience in Yoga training. He came up with a
structured set of asana to be taught for ten days at the rate of 3
hours per day from 06.00 a.m. to 09.00 a.m. daily. The daily
activities included warm up exercises, Nadi shudhi, Pranayama
and Surya Namaskarams.
On 14-09-2019 Dr. Sanjay M N, Chairman Red cross, Tiptur Unit
Visited the training programme and delivered a special lecture on
health awareness.
Feedback was collected on the Outcomes of the training
programme:
93 percent of the participants agreed that the training programme
lived up to their expectations.
93percent of the participants agreed that the content was relevant.
94 percent of the students agreed that the programme stimulated
their learning.
95 percent of the trainees rated that the training was well
organized and benefitted them.
The students were encouraged to write assignments and look into
the case studies of people who had benefitted from yogic
practices. They felt that they needed certain information related
to the uses and benefits of yoga. 89 percent of the students rated
that they needed analyses with illustrations.
94 percent of them agreed that the resource person was well
prepared with recent updates related to that area.

Annual Wall Magazine named” FOCUS”.
FOCUS is put up by the students & faculty of physics
throughout the year. The magazine articles are in English & Kannada related to Science, Humor, moral, Drawing, Painting and Newspaper cuttings etc. Selected articles were also
published in college magazine JNANADEEPA.
