Safety at the road/rail interface

About 1/3 of (railway) accidents in Europe happen on level crossings

but: mostly caused by road users/ pedestrians

Responsibility of all partners (road users, policy, railways)

14th Global Level Crossing & Trespass Prevention Symposium Helsinki, Finland, 12-16 June 2016.Organised by Trafi (Finnish Transport Safety Agency)

Core title in 2016:

“Enabling safe performance at level crossings”

The GLXS is a biennial event bringing together engineering, safety, security, human factors, practitioners, academics and researchers from the global road, rail, law enforcement, research and regulatory communities. It provides an opportunity to exchange information, to improve the safety of the at-grade interface between road and rail systems, and prevent railway trespassing.
