HypertextTransferProtocol(HTTP)

HyperText TransferProtocol(HTTP)isanapplication-layerprotocolusedprimarilyontheWorldWideWeb.HTTPusesaclient-servermodelwherethewebbrowseristheclientandcommunicateswiththewebserverthathoststhewebsite.ThebrowserusesHTTP,whichiscarriedoverTCP/IPtocommunicatetotheserverandretrieveWebcontentfortheuser.

• SecureSocketLayer(SSL)• SSListhestandardsecuritytechnologyforestablishinganencryptedlinkbetweenthetwosystems.Thesecanbebrowsertoserver,servertoserverorclienttoserver.Basically,SSLensuresthatthedatatransferbetweenthetwosystemsremainsencryptedandprivate.• ThehttpsisessentiallyhttpoverSSL.SSLestablishesanencryptedlinkusinganSSLcertificatewhichisalsoknownasadigitalcertificate.
