Architects do not just cut trees to BUILD structures, we also help GROW, preserve and protect nature. United Architects of the Philippines – Kuala Lumpur chapter believe that by preserving nature we can build a better future for the next generations. It was held in North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest together with Global Environment Centre (GEC) – a local organization that is registered in Malaysia as a non-profit organization but also works worldwide with both local and foreign partners. United Architects of the Philippines Kuala Lumpur Chapter members joined GECs tree planting event last August 18, 2018 together with other local and foreign participants from different organizations, company, industries, schools, as well as local families who wants to teach their kids the importance of preservation and appreciation of environment. ‘Magtanim ay di biro,

maghapong nakayuko’

While Lawrence is digging to look for treasures…Nah! It is

for the saplings… UAPKL was assigned to lane 2 at the

planting site with 23 bamboo stick markings (3 meters

distance for each plant), Ar. Rodolf assigned 4 members

to dig (alternate) because the organizer provides the team

with 2 shovels only, other members will put the saplings

into the holes and then other members will tie the saplings

(1\3 high of the plant’s stem) to the bamboo stick, and

overall we planted 23 saplings. Like what the famous

Filipino song says, ‘Magtanim ay di biro, maghapong

nakayuko’, it is really true that it is so hard to plant, while

the sun is so high, the weather is really hot and we have to

finish early because it seems like it’s going to rain real

soon. After the planting event UAPKL members had a

simple lunch and chitchat with the other participants and

GEC group at the orientation area.
