UNITING THE BUSINESS OF FOOTBALL IN AFRICA
HICHAm EL AmRANICAF Secretary General
“We are happy to have this agreement put in place; it’s an easy synergy to achieve between our respective organisations, based on the expertise of Soccerex, providing important key events for key stakeholders all around the globe, including Africa, and the Confederationof African Football being the governing body of African football. This MoU is an exchange of benefits and understanding that allows both organisations to improve their visibility and the development specifically of African football.”

“when we were looking at this event, it looked exciting to us... you have much of
the federation and confederation leadership here, together with an opportunity for us as well to speak to colleagues from leagues and federations around Africa.
So of course we want to be here.”
“i think it’s important for SuperSport but also important for the sports clubs themselves. A lot of the leadership and the guys involved in football from professional right down to
amateur level don’t have access to expertise and to go overseas is expensive, so for them to come to a city in Africa like durban i think
is fantastic, it allows people to come and share ideas, to meet people, to network.”
“they bring an understanding... if you bring Soccerex to South Africa and bring
somebody from the english premier league, South Africans are now seeing what can be achieved and say our pSl product is
good, why are we not using it the way the english premier league is being used? this
is why this is particularly important.”
“i think it’s the first time where coaches get an insight into sponsorships, how
to run football teams, the value of this, value of that, the problems that Africa has and i just think it’s the first time it’s opened up something like
this and i think it’s fantastic value for money and i’m delighted to be here.”
“the business of football goes hand in hand, not only football and business but football and government, football and politics, football is all encompassing.
particularly here in Africa, governments are won and lost in terms of their support of football... Soccerex just makes sense.”
“Soccerex is a fantastic business to business football forum; it’s the
biggest in the world. i‘ve had a long relationship with them and
delighted that they were able to do this arrangement with the city of
ethekwini and the province of kwa-Zulu natal to bring the event here.”
“Soccerex is one of the biggest events that the city of johannesburg has hosted. For johannesburg to be here is to showcase
what we have as a destination and as a city the infrastructure that is there and also to support events like this as these events
brings a lot of business to the city.“
“i think there is a lot we can take from Soccerex, the clubs and people interested in business, small business, big business,
people that want to run football, that want to do more about the game. i think that to have
Soccerex here, is absolutely unbelievable and i think it gives those opportunities to people who want to get football to another level on the business side.”
“i think it is very important; Soccerex has become virtually the world’s
economic forum for sport. it’s very important that we get together to
talk about the economics around the event, looking at new technologies, new development and look at the impact it has on the growth and the development of the game.”
“i’ve been to a number of Soccerex events, it’s an opportunity for
people and stakeholders who are involved in the industry to meet,
to hear opinions, to share opinions and generally to feed off each other’s business, for me it’s an
important part of our programme.”

“We are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response and interest that has been shown by all the participants who have registered as part of Soccerex...This event is a platform on which synergies between KZN and different countries will be built and strengthened, through the promotion of partnerships, and identification of opportunities for investment in sports...We want to facilitate twinning arrangements between KZN clubs, academic institutions and cities as part of creating the next generation of soccer stars.”
