The Graduate School is responsible for the co-ordination of graduate programmes with respect to syllabi admission of students, administration of scholarships, research grants monitoring, student progress examinations and the general welfare of graduate students.

The University has over 13,000 graduate students enrolled in over 338 programmes in doctoral, fellowships, masters and graduate diplomas. The population of graduate students continue to increase due to the introduction of relevant and innovative programmes which meet the needs of individual students.

University offers tailor-made programmes that are demand driven, in collaboration with our partners, in order to suit the needs of our society

As a way of ensuring that the search for knowledge is availed to as many applicants as meet our admission requirements, the mode of study is flexible so that a student can undertake his/her studies on a full-time, part-time basis or by open, distance and e-learning whenever applicable.

The University also conducts lectures through our open and distance e-learning centres located countrywide.

GRADUATEDIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATESApplicants for Graduate diplomas and certificates should have a minimum of a pass degree.

MASTERSDEGREE & FELLOWSHIPSApplicants for Masters degree programmes should have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree in the relevant discipline from the University of Nairobi or equivalent qualification from institutions recognized by Senate.

Applicants for fellowship programmes should have a masters degree programme in the relevant discipline from the University of Nairobi or equivalent qualification from institutions recognized by Senate.

Commencement dates vary from one programme to another, however the University Academic Year is September of each year though a few programmes have additional intakes in January and May each year.

As the University does not provide accommodation for graduate students, they are expected to make their own housing arrangements. However, they may seek assistance from the Student Welfare Authority of the University, in case of the possible availability of
