Through out the centuries, festivals have beenorganized to celebrate any type of event or

experience by a local community.There are festivals to celebrate life, death(rituals), the seasons, the religion and all kindsof purely concocted fantasy.

• %a Tomatina festival is one of the messiest

festivals the !orld has to offer*• #t takes place in the small to!n of 'unol in

eastern +pain.

-o one is completely certain ho! this eventoriginated. &any agree the tradition that startedback in /01 !hen an annual parade marched through

the streets. anting to 3oin in, t!o youngsterspushed their into the centre of the caravan. Theyaccidently toppled one of the participants into anearby vegetable stand. The angry fallen man got up

and started punching the boys. #n defense the youngsters grabbed tomatoes from the recentlybroken vegetable stall and started thro!ing them atthe crazed man until the police broke up the chaos.
