CHAPEL MISSION PROJECT (September-October) Kids Stepping out to Serve Others… This year our school celebrates its 150th year! Our forefathers at Immanuel were led by God to begin a school ministry that has been blessed to grow and grow. Our school theme this year is Walk Worthy from Colossians 1:10…”The Lord invites us to live a life worthy of Him.” In keeping with this theme, our mission projects this year will focus on kids “stepping” out to serve others in need as we Walk Worthy in our Lord. Our fall mission project (September-October) will focus on collecting school supplies for students attending Orneau Lutheran School in Orneau, Haiti, with whom Immanuel has a partnership. We ask that you and your children pray for these students along with Pastor Gabriel and the teachers as they continue to Walk Worthy. Our school has been richly blessed for 150 years. We are striving to send 150 of each school supply item below to our friends in Haiti. Please consider sending in 1 or more of the items listed next your child’s grade level. Come join us for chapel on September 14th to learn more about the people of Haiti and the church and school we help support. School supplies:

*The school supply items are due by September 30th. The students may bring the supplies in beginning the first day of school and place them in the “Blessing Suitcase” during our opening chapel service or any day during the rest of August and the entire month of September. Monetary offerings will be used for extra supplies and shipping costs. We will be able to say ‘Jezi renmen ou’ (Jesus Loves You) through our gifts.

150th School Year at Immanuel Our school is celebrating our 150th year and we will be celebrating this as we look at how Immanuel families over the last 150 years established and maintained our school and how we will carry it forward for the next 150 years.

PRESCHOOL STAFFING UPDATE We are very excited to announce the newest additions to our Preschool Staff for the 2016-2017 school year! Please join us in welcoming the following:
Mrs. Allison Sell – Pre 4 Lead Teacher (both AM and PM) and Pre 3 Lead Teacher (AM only). Mrs. Sell comes to us with 15+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. Nicole Sodergren – Pre 4 Lead Teacher (M, W, F afternoons). Mrs. Sodergren has observed, assisted, and substitute taught in Immanuel’s preschool program in the past.
Mrs. Kate Southern – Mrs. Southern will be the Pre 3 assistant to Mrs. Sell in the morning and the Pre 4 assistant to Mrs. Clor on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Mrs. Stacey Moldenhauer – Mrs. Moldenhauer will be the Pre 4 assistant to Mrs. Sell.
Mrs. Carla Vermiglio – Mrs. Vermiglio will be the Pre 4 assistant to Mrs. Sodergren.
Mrs. Rebecca Safran – Mrs. Safran will be the Pre 3 assistant to Mrs. Shull. We are looking forward to the new school year with these women as part of our preschool instruction team. Praise be to God!
CHAPEL MISSION PROJECT (September-October) Kids Stepping out to Serve Others… Please join us in sharing our blessings with those in need. Preschool families may send in any of the school supplies listed above for the students in Orneau, Haiti. Just bag up the supplies and send them into the classroom with your child. Also, our weekly Chapel Offerings will be used to purchase extra supplies and help with the shipping costs. What an awesome opportunity to help your little ones say ‘Jezi renmen ou’ (Jesus Loves You) to children in Haiti through their gifts.
2ND ANNUAL IMMANUEL PRESCHOOL PLAY DATE Join us on the Immanuel Playground on Saturday, September 17 (9:30-11:00 am). Have fun playing with old friends and enjoy making some new ones, too! Siblings are welcome. Parents must attend and remain with their child.

SUNDAY MORNING KIDS’ MINISTRY
Starting Sept 11th, kids of all ages (0-6th grade) are welcome to be a part of our fun Sunday morning program. This year we will be digging into some unusual facts from the Bible and seeing why Jesus is the One to follow. Register here and join us any Sunday at 9:30am. Parents can attend the small group studies while we meet. Please remember that we encourage our families to worship together on Sunday mornings, no matter the service time. Our kids program is designed to be a place for the kids to learn as the parents are learning in their small group studies.
IMMANUEL PARENT PRAYER GROUP Mom’s in Prayer International Our new mom’s in prayer international group will begin on Thursday, September 8th at 830 am in the Bridal Suite. We will meet every Thursday at 830am after that. We will be praying for every staff member and student through the course of the year. Keep an eye on the Charger Chatter to see who we are praying for each week. THRIVENT FINANCIAL MOVIE EVENT Brian Van Hevel and Ann Escandon of Thrivent Financial are hosting a movie event for the premier of Storks on Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 am at MJR Partridge Creek. PARKING/DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES Please follow our parking lot procedures carefully. Thanks for keeping our children safe! Morning Drop Off -
Entering from Romeo Plank - Use south driveway to enter parking lot. Quickly pull along the sidewalk to the north end of the building – do not drop off in front of the school entrance. Entering from 21 Mile Rd - Pull along the sidewalk on the west side of the Worship Center. Quickly pull along the sidewalk to the north end of the building – do not drop off in front of the school entrance doors. Exiting the parking lot - Exit the parking lot from the north driveway on the Romeo Plank side, right hand lane turning right and left hand lane turning left.
Morning Parking -
If parking and then dropping off child(ren), park in the north lot – never in the front parking spaces in front of the school where traffic must continue to flow.
During the Day Parking (for appointment pick up/drop off, volunteering, etc.) -
Park either in the north lot or the east lot. If using the east lot, do not park in the middle spaces as these are used for Kindergarten and Preschool drop off / pick up during the days.
End of School Day – 3:16 pm
Only enter the west lot using the 21 Mile Rd. entrance OR the south driveway on the Romeo Plank side. Only park in the west lot on the Romeo Plank Road side. BACK INTO SPACES! Do not congregate at the doors of the entrance as this makes it difficult for young children to find their parents / cars. Please turn off your cars. We want to be exhaust free!
No pets allowed out of cars while waiting for the children to be excused for the day.
2017 ANNUAL AUCTION NEEDS We are need of large baskets to package auction items in for next year. If you have baskets from the items you purchased this year or some that you are simply looking to donate, please bring them to the school office. We also could use any bows, ribbons, or clear plastic wrapping. Thank you in advance!
FAMILY GAME NIGHT (Pre-8) Who : All Immanuel Families
What : Family Board Game Night. We will have a small snack and many games set up. Bring a game, set it up, choose a game, play, emjoy time with friends and family, and repeat.
Where : Immanuel School Gym and surrounding classrooms

BOARD OF EDUCATION 2016-2017 Our Board of Education for the 2016-2017 school year met early in August. We thank them for their service to Immanuel and our school. Please pray for this group as they fulfill their roles throughout the year: Tim Starkey (Chair), Jim Happell (Vice Chair), Teri Marchant (Secretary), Jason Mlynarek, Joe Agemy, Paula Parent, Nicole Gorny, and Casey Watson.

Pricing – K-8 students $3.25
Hot Lunch is still a pay in advance program. Pay in advance by filling out a hot lunch purchasing form and we will invoice your Smart Tuition the amount that you indicate.
SMART TUITION We use Smart Tuition for collection of all school payments. Using Smart Tuition for all of our collection of payments is a great convenience for our families and allows our school to be efficient with payments and invoices.
Instead of writing checks or sending in cash for tuition, Extended School Care (ESC), hot lunch, sports fees, field trips, special events (Daddy Daughter Dance, Donuts at Dawn, Muffins in the Morning, etc.), Spirit Wear orders, and more, now we will be able to invoice you through Smart Tuition and you can make one monthly payment for all Immanuel school invoices.
We will exclusively use Smart Tuition for all payments to Immanuel Lutheran School. This will simplify the process of sending in payments for families and allow families to make payments easier.
You will see detailed invoices on your online Smart Tuition account so you know why each invoice was charged.
Our staff will be able to process payments more efficiently and be able to invoice family accounts for all of our school payments.

IMMANUEL IS A “NUT SAFE” SCHOOL (Pre-8) Please do not send in food products into school for lunches or snacks that contain any type of nut
products. We have several children that are highly allergic to nuts. Sorry – no peanut butter sandwiches at lunchtime. Please check the ingredients carefully before sending in food for lunch or snacks.

Back to School Night – Come meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and get detailed information about daily and weekly information as well as information about some of the big events at each grade level.

School Picture Day – Tuesday, September 13th - K-8 School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 13th. All picture packets MUST be at school at the time of picture taking. Order forms and online ordering instructions will be provided when school starts.

If you have a children in more than one grade, attend one child’s classroom for the first session, then proceed to the other child’s classroom for the second session.

FASHION DESIGN CLUB (Wed. 3:30-4:30pm; Sept. 14, 21, 28, Oct. 5, 19, 26) Make fashion, make friends, and have fun with us at Immanuel Lutheran! Fashionistas will spend six weeks creating super cool clothing pieces that they can actually wear! Go from beginner to runway ready style in just six weeks. Participants will celebrate their accomplishments with a fab fashion show for family and friends at session's end. No supplies needed. Fee is all-inclusive. CHESS CLUB (Tues. 3:30-4:30pm; Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 8, 15) Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Open to grades K-8. ENGINEERING FOR KIDS (Thurs. 3:30-4:30pm; Sept. 29, Oct. 6, 20, 27, Nov. 3, 17, Dec. 1, 8) Watch out! It’s a shark attack! In Invader Defense: Shark Attack, we will create our own version of an invader defense game that will allow us to protect a coral reef from hungry sharks. We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard and outline the rules of play for our game. Then we will use Clickteam Fusion 2.5® to bring our storyboard to life with programming. At the end of the program, everyone takes home a working Windows-compatible game (Clickteam Fusion 2.5® does not support Mac or Android operating systems). PICTURE DAY for K-8 - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th (K-8) 1. A pre-pay envelope will be sent home with your child the week before picture day in
Kindergarten - 8th Grade. Parents can pre-order and pre-pay by going to www.kaiserstudio.com . Click on “Order pictures”. Type in code – IMMLUTH07.
2. Checks made out to “Kaiser Studio” after you select your package.
3. All students have their picture taken even if they do not purchase a picture package.
4. Students may dress up for pictures, (and stay out of dress code for the day).
Girls may wear dresses or blouses other than the school uniform shirt.
Boys may wear a different shirt on that day, but must wear school uniform pants.
LATE ORDERS – If a student has forgotten their payment and wants to order pictures, the parent will have to call Kaiser Studios within 3 days (by Friday, September 16th) to place your order and still receive the package pricing that was on the order envelope. After this time, you will have to order photos a la carte. Students that have forgotten their envelope will be given “late order” information card at the camera. RE-TAKE DAY – Thursday, October 20th – If a student is absent or if pictures need to be retaken, our Re-Take Day is Thursday, October 20th.

LUTHERAN NORTH SPORTS CAMP PERFORMANCE Some of our Immanuel students participated in Cheer Camp and Dance Camp at Lutheran North this summer and had the privilege to perform at the first football game of the season. Great job girls!
