CCAs…2 weeks to go Quarter 4 CCAs will finish on Wednesday May 29th. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who have been involved this quarter and who enabled us to offer new and exciting options to the Primary students. Dorthe’s ‘recycled artists’ have produced some amazing creations and our resident Bird Man, Peter Davidson, has enthralled and entranced and he identified the varied winged creatures that inhabit our campus (with Jo substituting most ably when required!).

What’s this? P5 and P6 sound asleep in the middle of the day? Aaaaah, they were just relaxed as they went through their yoga poses as part of their inquiry into how we can stay healthy and take responsibility for the choices that we make. Keara and PJ took the P5 and P6 through the routine and were impressed with how willingly the students were to try new

Dorobo Delights- P5 and P6 rise to the Challenge

After three days of energetic activities (and a couple of nights of not so deep sleep) the P5 and P6 students returned to campus on Wednesday…and then were put to work getting their lunch organised. A delicious barbecue was enjoyed by the weary group. Thanks to Mr Lane, Chelsea and Faraja for

EC and P3/4 Share Time

Today’s entertaining Share Time was hosted by Early Childhood and P3/4. This was our last ‘on stage’ Share Time for the year. The EC Class wowed us with their play ‘When Night Comes’. There were rats and cats and bats galore!

P3/4 have been working on biographies of explorers and were proud to share their published work with all of primary. On Friday May 31st, at 1.00pm, the Primary Student Council will host the final Share Time for the year.

MYP Minute The MYP Minute offers a weekly glance at a portion of the Middle Years Programme at our campus. As assessment week draws to a close and as the last weeks of lessons are delivered, let’s take a moment to consider the nature of the ideal learning environment. Students learn best when:

ü their prior knowledge is considered to be important ü learning is in context ü that context is relevant ü they can learn collaboratively ü the learning environment is provocative ü they get appropriate, formative feedback that supports their

learning ü diverse learning styles are understood and accommodated ü they feel secure and their ideas are valued and respected ü values and expectations are explicit ü there is a culture of curiosity at the school ü they understand how learning is judged, and how to provide

evidence of their learning ü they become aware of and understand how they learn ü structured inquiry, critical thinking, learning through experience

and conceptual development are central to teaching in the school ü learning is engaging, challenging, rigorous, relevant and significant ü they are encouraged in everything they do in school to become

autonomous, lifelong learners.

Regards, Andrew VanderMeulen – MYP Coordinator ( [email protected] )
