Updating Your Profile on the new AAPC Website

The American Association of Pastoral Counselors has launched a brand new, state of the art Membership Services Database and website system. Our new system allows you to easily manage your profile, print your membership card, manage your publicly available Find a Counselor listing, and view other AAPC members with the exclusive, members-only Directory. Please log in to your AAPC account and set your privacy settings to ensure only the information you want shared with members and the public at large are shared. To begin, go to aapc.org and click on the sign in button, located on the top right hand corner of the window.

On the Member Sign in page, type your Username and Password in the corresponding fields and then click the sign in button. If this is your first time signing into the new AAPC website, you will land on Preferences page, where it asks if you would like to change any of the default communication settings. These are default communication preferences, which are either turned off or on. You may change your preferences, or simply press Save My Settings. Once saved, a small window will appear in the top left hand corner. You can also change or update these settings at any time. After saving, press the Manage Profile button in the top right hand corner of the page to go to your Profile.

This is one of the main navigation pages for your AAPC profile. Here is where you can access any current membership invoices, edit your personal and professional information, and view and print your AAPC Membership Card. Under the Information & Settings section, click on the Edit Bio link to access your profile. Running down the left side of your profile you will find icons next to most of your details, such as your Email Address, Address, Phone, Mobile, etc. Click on each icon and decide whether that information should be set to: Private, Members Only, or Public.

Under this first section, your username will be populated on the second line.

Press the Change button on the third line to create a new password known only to you. A window will open, requiring you to enter your current password (Password1) and then enter your new, unique password twice to confirm, and press Submit to save your changes. The next two sections will be populated with your information that was transferred over from the old AAPC membership database. Please review and ensure all the details about yourself in both of these sections are up to date. Your Personal Information is for your personal contact information and used for billing purposes, while your Professional Information is for your employment information (or university information if you are a Student Member) and is what is viewable to the public through the two Directories.

Under the Professional Information section, please take note of Find a Counselor Tool and Professional Description options.

If you are NOT accepting new patients make sure to ‘Opt Out’ of the Find a Counselor tool. The Professional Description is an open text field you can use to describe your practice or types of clients you work with, etc. If you choose a “Public” privacy setting for this, the information will appear in the search results of the Find a Counselor search tool. The last section has some Additional Information that should be populated for you already.

Once you have finished making all of your pages, press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page. Please take a few minutes to explore the new AAPC site and its new features! We highly recommend reading “Why Pastoral Counseling” written by The Rev. Jill Snodgrass, Ph.D., for a fresh look at our profession’s past, present, and future.
