UAF Meetings-a retrospective look

• UAF I: Held at NSF, notable for its free-for-all exchange of ideas that demonstrated the need for more frequent such get-togethers

• UAF II: At Ellicott City, MD, highlighted the need for improved efforts in diversity and education

• UAF III: At Berkeley Springs, WV, marked by heated debate over the need for an integrated plan and more well-integrated management of the facilities, inspired by the Avery committee report

• UAF IV: ??

UAF External Review Panels

• 1996: Meriwether (chair), Mendillo, Fejer, Vondrak, Heelis– Resulted in a list of community expectations for

facilities that have been used in establishing review criteria for facility proposals

• 2003: Avery (chair), Hagan, Clauer, Taylor, Sahr, Mathews– Recommended better scientific and technical

coordination among facilities and the need for an integrated science plan for the UAF program

• 2010: ??
