The collection includes papers relating to the Committee on Future of Tertiary Educations, Standing Committee of Professional Board, Australian Council for Educational Research, Australian Universities Commission and AVCC.
Date 1941 - 1968 Biography Fred Schonell was born in 1900. He became a teacher and completed his
Ph.D degree in Education at the University of London in 1932. He held the positions of Lecturer, Examiner, and Professor for various universities in England. He was appointed First Professor of Education with the University of Queensland in 1949. Schonell was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland in 1960. He was knighted in 1962. Schonell's research interests were primary school education methods, especially slow learners. He died in 1969.

Box 67 Correspondence – Subject Files, 1950 - 1957 Folder 1 A - Australian Aborigine Readers Correspondence with Geraldine MacKenzie, Frances Derham and others relating to MacKenzie’s series of books The first Australian’s first [-sixth] book, 27 Mar 1950 to 19 Aug 1955 Schonell wrote the foreword to the readers. In one of her letters Frances Derham suggests changes to the foreword. These suggested changes were adopted for the printed books.
