Most of us are living again; we are just being wiser when it comes to

our choices. Selecting businesses’ that give us the best deal or offers discounts. Now that summer is upon us, the kids are out of school, we want to spend time as a family.

I admit it, I love a bargain. I was so excited that the EliteRewardcards.com is now offering major theme parks and other entertainment venue tickets with the purchase of their card. A family could save $100 or more. Merchant’s like Boston’s, Pollo Loco, Juan Pollo, Chick-fil-A and various great Mexican Restaurants offering up to 50% savings, most of us are working harder these days and now we can enjoy going out to eat, without the guilt.

I recently had my hair done at Vespertine Hair Designs. What a treat, for a curly hair gal. No curling or flat irons, just fat, fabulous hair. Raceway Car Wash in Fontana is offering a $6 car wash, what a deal.

One of the best hidden gems is The CornerButcher Shop located in La Verne offering prime cuts of meat and a full service deli where they serve great sandwiches and so much more at great prices. They also have wonderful selection of beer and wine.

What I love best is, no coupons to remember or points to accumulate, only my Eliterewardcards.com card. The website can be accessed via any mobile device and I can always search anytime or any place. The card has paid for itself three times over. I am excited they are expanding to Orange County and soon to other locations, which means more savings no matter where I travel.

Why participate in the Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau EliteRewardCards Program?

The Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau believe in building a strong community and are committed to providing a service that benefits the consumer and local merchants. By providing the ‘Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau EliteRewardCard’, to local merchants to promote their business to consumers in the area, all entities win. Merchants promote their business by providing a discount/offer; consumers reap in the benefits these discounts offer.

What is the purpose of the Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau?

The Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau’s primary responsibilities are:

1. To confirm conventions, trade shows, meetings, consumer shows like the Home Show, meetings and other public events that appeal to the community at the Ontario Convention Center

2. To generate sales leads for local hotels to fill their guest rooms

3. To confirm events that will fill local hotel rooms4. To generate Economic Impact in the city

How does the Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau contribute to the community?

The events that the Bureau confirms at the Ontario Convention Center and the local hotels generate revenues in one of many ways:

1. The events confirmed at the Ontario Convention Center generate revenues that are taxed by the city.

2. The attendees, who attend the events, whether they are from out of town staying at a hotel, or simply driving in for the day, will spend money in Ontario. The monies are spent at restaurants, retail stores, gas stations, grocery stores etc. The taxes generated by the revenues from this expenditure go to the city.

3. The guest rooms filled at local hotels are also taxed. These taxes also go to the city.

All the revenues generated by events at the Ontario Convention Center and the hotel rooms filled is called Economic Impact. The taxes raised by the economic impact go the city, which in turn is used for development projects around the city, street repairs, trash/sewer and other city expenses.

casa MorenoIn December 2009, the City of Claremont awarded Casa Moreno Restaurant Bar & grill a job creation grant for their proposed new Mexican food restaurant in the Village Square (across from the City’s public plaza). The purpose of the grant was to create 6 full-time equivalent jobs for low-moderate income persons living within the greater Claremont area. Casa Moreno’s construction is nearing completion and they are working on the final touches of wood work and other details, including the addition of a custom lounge area for patrons wanting to relax and enjoy tequila tastings. The outdoor dining area will feature custom lounge seating accentuated by fire pits and large patio umbrellas. The bar area will include two water features as well as high-definition televisions.

In addition to ongoing construction, the restaurant owners recently hosted two job fairs to hire employees for the new restaurant. Casa Moreno’s goal is to be open in early July and will feature owner Mercy Moreno’s specialty dishes from Puebla, Mexico such as Chile Relleno, Mole Pablano (chicken mole), Enchiladas a La Crema, and Fajitas Trio. In addition they will offer signature desserts such as homemade Flan and Bread Pudding. For refreshments, Casa Moreno will be serving their unique margaritas, which are made using their secret family recipe. To provide added value for its patrons, the restaurant will provide musical entertainment on Friday evenings. In 1971, Dr. Robert J. Steiskal graduated from the

Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and began his

first practice in Pasadena, California. He moved to the

San gabriel Valley in 1973 and practiced in Covina and

Pomona before moving to Claremont in 1976. Dr. Steiskal

opened a second office in San Bernardino in 1982 and a

third in Fontana in 1984. He remained at the Claremont

location until 1999 when he relocated to Ontario. In 2009

he changed to a new location - Ontario Chiropractic at

718 N. Euclid Avenue just north of g Street.

During the course of his 39 years in practice, Dr. Steiskal has

been an associate professor at the Cleveland College of

Chiropractic in Los Angeles for 10 years and an instructor

for the International Chiropractors Association of California

for over 20 years. He received Disability Evaluator training

in 1972 and became a Qualified Medical Examiner for the

California Worker’s Compensation system in 1990.

Dr. Steiskal specializes in the treatment of disc problems

and uses specific spinal corrective procedures to reduce

joint and disc inflammation which relieves the pressure

on the spinal nerves. He states that “The drugless, non-

surgical approach to treating neck and back pain can add

Spotlight on Fontana Sports In a city founded on orange groves, filled with rich sports history, steel mill pioneers and economic house market boom, the quality of life is evident. From steeler pride to state of the art skate parks, this near 200, 000 population experience the sense of community through the vision set by city council and services departments committed to provide high quality leisure activities to the Fontana residents of all ages.

The City of Fontana Community Services Department Sports Division offers a variety of recreational programs designed to provide athletes with basic fundamentals, game strategy, physical fitness, education, and most importantly sportsmanship. Athletes experience a sense of teamwork promoting self-esteem regardless of their athletic skill level.

Seasonal sports are offered for all ages. Pee Wee Sports for ages 3-7 include basketball, t-ball, flag football and soccer. Youth Divisions offer flag football, basketball, roller hockey and track for ages 8-13. The teen division offers basketball and roller hockey for ages 14-17. Adult leagues are offered for ages 18 & up. Programs include basketball, soccer, volleyball, roller hockey and softball year round.

One of the main reasons we rely on our color printing system is to print our four-color catalogs. Prior to trade shows, we really tax the system, printing large volumes straight through the weekend. During one of these times, we needed service so we called our service tech on his cell phone. We didn’t expect that he’d be available, but we took the chance.
