    WAROF 1812MAIN CAUSES:

    1-Embargo act of 1807- No more trades to GreatBritain and France. The US was upset that the Britishwere preventing neutral US ships from trading withFrance

    2-British impressment- British policy of capturing andforcing US Sailors to serve on British Ships. This wasbecause of the Embargo act and war with France.

    3-Native American Assistance-The US believed thatthe British were giving aid to Native Americans in theNorthwest Territory

    4-Chesapeake incident- A fight between a Britishship and the U.S.S. Chesapeake. The Americansthought of the fight as an insult to the nation andcaused outrage among the American citizens
