 Bayley  House  

Bayley  House  supports  over  200  adults  with  an  intellectual  disability  through  the  delivery  of  services  in  the  areas  of  Day  Program,  Supported  Residential  Accommodation  and  short  term  Respite.  Most  of  our  clients  are  from  within  the  Bayside  and  surrounding  council  areas  and  are  aged  between  18  and  75.  The  Day  Service  supports  175  people  and  provides  an  extensive  range  of  activities  including  vocational  training,  art  and  craft,  recreational  sports,  cooking,  dance  and  much  more.  Our  accommodation  service  manages  six  residential  properties  and  an  independent  living  complex  which  provide  a  home  for  40  people,  most  of  whom  attend  Bayley  House.  The  respite  house  is  located  in  Hampton  and  enables  over  90  families  a  year  to  take  a  short  break.  Street  Address:  52  Middle  Crescent,  Brighton  Vic  3186  Postal  Address:  PO  Box  113,  Brighton  Vic  3186  Phone:  03  9982  1500     Fax:  03  9592  3883  Email:  [email protected]  Website:  www.bayleyhouse.org.au  

 The  Friendship  Circle

Jewish  Care  provides  aid  in  times  of  hardship  and  crisis,  and  offer  services  that  enable  individuals  in  the  Victorian  Jewish  community  to  thrive.  By  providing  support  and  opportunities  for  individuals  and  families,  Jewish  Care  seeks  to  strengthen  the  wellbeing  and  resilience  of  its  community.

Jewish  Schools  Integration  Program  Coordinator  

This  program  supports  the  Jewish  Day  Schools  to  include  students  with  disabilities.  The  program  provides  financial  assistance,  based  on  a  strict  application  process.  All  funds  are  raised  by  the  Posh  Opp  Shoppe  run  by  an  honorary  manager  Rosalie  Silverstein.  Shop  is  operated  by  the  Melbourne  Jewish  Orphan  and  Children’s  Aid  Society.    Contact:  Sharon  Goodhart  Phone:  0418  378  187    Email:  [email protected]

 Lord  Somers  Camp  and  Powerhouse:  Camp  Diversity  

What  the  program  is: Camp  Diversity  (est.  1993)  is  a  weekend  camp  for  young  adults  living  with  intellectual  and  physical  challenges.  Over  the  weekend,  participants  experience  a  range  of  activities  varying  in  the  areas  of  creativity,  physical  games,  performance  and  unique  experiences.  Camp  Diversity  also  hosts  a  Disco  on  the  Saturday  night  which  is  quite  often  the  highlight  of  a  participant’s  camp.  Who  the  program  is  for Camp  Diversity  is  for  young  adults  between  the  ages  of  16  and  35  living  with  intellectual  and/  or  physical  challenges.  To  be  eligible  to  participate  in  camp  diversity,  the  participants  must  be;  • Independent  in  their  daily  living  skills,  or  else  only  require  prompting  assistance.  

• Aged  16  –  35,  although  exceptions  can  be  made  at  the  discretion  of  the  Executive  Committee,  who  take  into  consideration  that  chronological  age  can  often  vary  from  intellectual  and  emotional  age.  

Each  colour  group  has  approximately  12-­‐15  participants,  and  is  provided  with  care  by  5-­‐6  volunteer  staff.  Each  group  also  has  the  inclusion  of  a  few  younger  members  of  the  volunteer  staff,  who  are  not  available  to  provide  care,  but  do  provide  social  support  and  fun  interactions.Camp  Diversity  is  organised  and  run  predominately  by  young  volunteers  of  Lord  Somers  Camp  and  Power  House,  although  anyone  from  the  community  is  welcome  to  volunteer.  All  staff  have  a  Working  With  Children  Check,  and  have  varying  levels  of  experience  working  with  people  with  disabilities,  but  all  staff  attend  a  briefing  at  the  start  of  the  weekend.    Website:  www.lordsomerscamp.org.au/camps/diversity.htm  Email:  [email protected]

 United  Jewish  Education  Board  (UJEB)
