Step1:FindingaStartingPoint• TheSchedulePlannerisanextremelyhelpfultool,however,youneedtohaveastartingpointtomakeituseful.
• Startwithgatheringsome(orone)ofthecoursesyouwishtotakefortheupcomingsemester.
• Youcanalsousea"DARSreport"tocheckyourprogresstowardyourmajor:hJp://www.umsl.edu/services/dars/
• Onceyou’vedetermineda“base”courseload(evenjustoneclass),youcanthennavigatetotheSchedulePlanner.

• IntheStudentServicestab,clickonthe“ScheduleBuilder”link
• Clickthe“ClickHere”button:

• Selectthecorrectsemester,andclick“SaveandCon6nue”

Step3:CreatingFilters• Checktoensureyouhavethecorrectterm,sessions,andinstruc6onmodesselected
• TIP:Itisbesttokeepalloftheseselectedtomaximizeoptions.

Step4:AddingCourses• Clickthe“AddCourse”button
• YoucansearchbySubjectorAttribute• AttributesarederivedfromMyView

• Con6nuetoaddallthecoursesyouareconsidering.

• Clickthe“Back”buttononceyou’veaddedallthecourses.
Step5:NarrowingOptions• Clickonthe“Options”buttontoopenalistofallpossiblesectionsofaparticularcourse.
Step5:NarrowingOptions• Youcannowselect/deselectanysec6onsyoucanorcan’tattend. Click“Save&Close”whenfinished.
Step5:NarrowingOptions• NOTE:Someclassescanhave‘duplicate’sections(e.g.onlineclasses,labs,orrecitations),soit’sbesttodeselectsec6onsinthesame6meblock/attribute.Keepingallsec6onsselectedisperfectlyreasonable,however,itwillmostlikelygeneratemul6plesofthesameschedule.
Step5:NarrowingOptions• Ifyouwanttoinclude/excludecertainclassesfromthelistofpossibleschedules,youcancheck/unchecktheassociatedboxnexttoeachcourse. Onlycoursesthatarecheckedwillbeutilized.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Clickthe“GenerateSchedules”button; SchedulePlannerwillprovideallavailablescheduleoptionsbasedonthe6mes/sec6onsselected.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Ifyouhavedozens(orhundreds!)ofscheduleoptions,you’llwanttorepeatStep5tofurtherfilteroutoptionsbasedonyourpreferences.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Some6mesthesec6onsyouselectsimplywon’tworkduetoconflicts.Youcanfindanothersec6onorcoursetoreplaceit.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Ifyouhavemorethanonepossibleschedule,youcancompareuptofourata6mebyselec6ngeachop6on;then,click“Compare”.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Youcanthenhoveryourmouse-pointerovereachcoloredboxtodeterminethecourseandtime. Thisisaquickwaytoassesswhichscheduleworksbestforyou.
Step6:GeneratingSchedules• Youcangetacloserlookateachschedulebyclickingthe“Open”button(or“View”buttononthepreviousscreen).Thisshowsthecompleteschedule,alongwiththecalendar.
Step7:“FillingtheHoles”• Ifyouonlyenteredafewclassesini6ally,youcanthenusethis“base”scheduletofindnaturalspacestoaddadditionalclasses.
Step7:“FillingtheHoles”• YoucanthenuseMyViewinconjunctionwithSchedulePlannertofindclassesduringspecifictimesthatmeetaspecific(orany)requirement.
Step8:Registration• Openanewtabinyourinternetbrowser,andnavigatetoMyView. OpentheEnrollmentRequestoptionandproceedasnormal.Youcanactuallycopy/pastetheClass#fromSchedulePlannerintothe“ClassNbr.”boxinMyView.
Step9:Print/EmailSchedule• You can either print the schedule or send it to your UMSLemailaddressusingthebuttonsatthetopoftheschedule.
• UsePrintPreviewwhenprintingtheschedule,andadjustthesizeofpageaccordingly(some6mesitcanprintacross2-3pagesdependingonthegapsbetweenclasses).
