WHATISTHEGRADECENTRE
Studentcentralisavailableat:https://studentcentral.brighton.ac.uk
StudentcentralistheinstitutionalVirtualLearningEnvironment(VLE);eachmoduleinstancehasitsownGradeCentre.
TheGradeCentreprovidesyouwithanareatostoreandmanagestudentresultsdata.Typically,atBrighton,un-ratified(priortoexamboard)gradesandfeedbackforindividualpiecesofassessmentarereleasedthroughthegradecenter.Studentsviewtheirgrades,releasedviatheGradeCentre,usingtheMyGradesmenu.
TheGradeCentreisatabularviewofresultsforstudentsstudyingthemodule.Somecalculations(average,weightedandtotal)arepossiblewithintheGradeCentre.
ThedataintheGradeCentrecanbedownloadedinExcelorCSVformattoenableofflineworkingoradvancedspreadsheetmanipulation.
Ratifiedgradesformodulesareavailabletostudentsviathepersonaltabinstudentcentral.ThepersonaltabopensupanE-vision(SITS/CAMS)viewofgradesenteredviaCAMS.

Aweightedcolumnisatypeofcalculatedcolumnthatallowsagradetobegeneratedontheresultofaselectionofcolumnsandtheirrespectivepercentages(proportion).
Weightedcolumnsareusefulforcalculatingfinalcourseworkormodulescoresbasedonaselectionofothercolumns.Asanexample,afinalcourseworkscoremaybebasedontwoindividualpiecesorcomponentsofcourseworkwithequalweighting(50%).

• Setavaluegreaterthanzeroforthepossiblescore;typically,thisisavalueof100;assubmissionareusuallymarkedoutof100.Ifyouforgettosetapossiblescoreitwilldefaulttozeroandyoucanchangeitlater.Settingthepossiblescoretozerocancauseerroneousweightedcolumncalculations.
• Underoptionssettingsremembertosetthe“revealonpostdate”settingto“Yes”(Recommended).ThiswillgiveTurnitintheabilitytohideandshowtheassociatedgradeCentrecolumnontheselectedpostdate.If“revealonpostdate”issettoNothenthereleaseofgradesandfeedbackfromstudentcentralandTurnitinwillnotbesynchronizedandstudentsmayseegradesearlierthandesired.
