Documentation
The VMware vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) Plug-in
for EMC VNX for File Read Me First lists the components
of the VMware VAAI Plug-in 1.0 for EMC VNX for File and the
troubleshootinginformation.
As of this release, vStorage Enabler was added to VNX in order
to support VMware’s vStorage APIfor Array Integration (VAAI). This
VMware feature enables I/O heavy operations, such as cloning,to be
offloaded to the storage array. VAAI enhances existing virtual
machine solutions’ perfor-mance and scalability. The vStorage
client plug-in must be installed on each VMware ESXi host inorder
to use VAAI.

Minimum System Requirements
The system must meet the following requirements:
• VNX for File 7.0 or later• VMware ESXi 5.0 server
Installing the VMware vStorage APIs for Array Integration
Plug-in 1.0
After you download the zip file, the VAAI Plug-in is available
for installation.1. On the Virtual Center host, import the
EMCNasVAAI plugin.zip bundle by using VMware
Update Manager (VUM) 5.0.2. Create and attach the baseline on
VUM by selecting the baseline type as Host Extension.3. Proceed to
remediate the bundle on ESXi 5.0 host.4. Run esxcli software vib
list | grep "EMC" command on the ESXi 5.0 host to ensure the
EMC-
NasPlugin is installed after the reboot.
