Meditation Consultant Rhonda Jones Dealing with a Difficult Person? Just Bless Them!For several weeks I have been in a difficult situation dealing with a loved one. My mind was raging with negative

thoughts that I continually tried to quell. Over and over I would have con-versations in my mind about what was bugging me. I continually caught myself saying, “Yes, I know this already, I don’t need to go over it again.” By staying on top of it, giving it to God, and using my meditation time to clear my mind, I was able to get these thoughts under control, for the most part. Although I may have been winning the battle, it was certainly a constant struggle.

Then one day in my quiet time with God (I try to spend at least 30 minutes in scripture meditation each day), I felt the presence of God so strongly floating warmly down my body, and in a clear, loud, and inaudible voice He asked, “Is anything impossible for me?” I remember answering back, “No Lord, you are the God of the impossible.”

Then several minutes later God put this impression upon my heart. He said, whenever a negative thought surfaces because of this person, just “Bless Them.” After my meditation time with God I pulled out a sheet of paper. At the top of the paper I drew my likeness of Jesus holding a large bucket. Under the bucket I drew my likeness of my loved one. The bucket represented God’s Blessings. On the paper, I imagined God’s Blessings

being poured out over this person. Surrounding this person I wrote the blessings I wanted God to pour in their heart. For example, I had the words, “Love,” “Kindness,” ” Wisdom,” “Appreciation,” “Good Communication Skills,” “Sensitivity,” “Trust,” “Healing,” “Freedom,” “Health,” “Understanding,” and “Gratitude.”

Then throughout the day, each time I began to think about this person, before I let my mind wonder into the men-tal abyss of complaining and negativity, I would mental say, “God Bless Them,” with the intention that with each blessing, God would be pouring the blessings (I wrote on the paper) into their life.

I was amazed at how much better I felt and how steady my mind became. Sometimes I chuckled in my mind as I said it. It was like I had a secret conspiracy with God. I was asking God to intervene in their life and bless them with the attributes, skills, and desires that would heal their life and bring more joy and harmony to mine.

It wasn’t until several days later that a certain scripture popped in my head. We all know it so well. “Bless Those That Curse You and Despitefully Use You. Bless and Curse Not.”

The text reads from Matthew 5:44: But I say to you, Love your enemies (anyone who is opposing you), BLESS them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you. I was giving God both opportunity and power to bring about positive change, in me and them. For as we know, God’s word can’t return void and he said his blessings will overtake us.

Peace, is there really such a thing? We often hear people say “all I want is peace of mind”. Is that really all there is to living in peace;

to have peace of mind?Peace is defined as “a state of harmony characterized by the lack of violent conflict and the freedom from fear of violence. Commonly understood as the absence of hostility, peace also suggests the existence of healthy or newly healed interper-sonal or international relationships, prosperity in matters of social or economic welfare, the establishment of equality, and a working political order that serves the true interests of all. In international relations, peacetime is not only the absence of war or violent conflict, but also the presence of positive and respectful cultural and economic relationships”.That said; is it truly possible to have peace in all these areas at once? Does the peace of one individuals mind affect the peace of another’s? Does the peace of a nation affect the peace of

another nation? In my opinion, it is not possible in this moment of time. Because we have so many differences of opinions, cultures, religions and views on war, it is nearly impossible to have peace amongst mankind in all these areas at one time. However, the key word here is “nearly”.So, why are we seeking a peace on earth when none can be found? Because we can receive the spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit (Ghost) in our hearts today! Then peace in our minds, given by the Holy Spirit, will spread peace throughout the world through the people who personifies the Holy Spirit of God. We find in the New Testament the characteristics of the Holy Spirit of God. Jesus provides explicit details of the Holy Ghost. As Christians, we believe Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and if we come to Him and leave all our burdens with Him that He will give us rest. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)So, if we learn from Him, we will learn that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit that we need in us in order to have peace on Earth. We can have peace collectively in all these areas if we allow ourselves the peace the passes all understanding. To allow ourselves to be okay with the differences we all have as a nation of people. Religion and culture should never be forced on any mankind, Jesus never did!A very interesting statement I read on wikipedia reads as follows: Experience shows that disre-gard for the environment always harms human coexistence, and vice versa. It becomes more and more evident that there is an inseparable link between peace with creation and peace among men. Both of these presuppose peace with God. What say you?
