The United States had barely entered World War 2 when the Disney studios were occupied by the U.S. Army to protect the nearby Lockheed aircraft plant. Animation production soon
switched to propaganda films and after receiving requests from military and naval units for insignia, Disney produced over 1200 different designs free of charge to support Allied forces.
