Vastu for Well and Tube-WellWater is one of the significant elements among Panchbhootas that constitute the entire concept of Vastu-Shastra. The placement of well or tube-well in a house should be proper so as to gain profits and over-all prosperity. There are some set of rules involve in Vastu for the location of under-ground well or tube-well and it has been observed that well or tube-well if placed in wrong direction leads to numerous problems in terms of health, wealth and prosperity. Thus it is important to give water its essential space so as to counteract negative energies and making the environment positive.
Some problems faced by occupants if well-or tube-well is located in wrong direction are: Wealth loss Low virility Sexual problems in male member Enemy trouble Quarrel with children Death in extreme cases Problems in female members or no female in family
Therefore it is best to make well/tube-well in proper location to avoid any kind of mishap or loss. Some ideal directions for water resource are:
North North-east East
However avoid locating underground water resource in South, South-east, South-west or North-west because these directions are inauspicious for under-ground water and only lead to heavy losses.
OVERHEAD WATER TANK
WHAT IS THE BEST POSITION FOR AN OVERHEAD WATER TANK ACCORDING TO VASTU?
The Overhead water tank should be in the West or South-West of the building: The Reasoning - The South-West corner should be the heaviest, to create a balance of positive energies in the house/building.
Avoid the Overhead tank in the North-East corner of the House: The Reasoning – Though the North-East corner represents Water, avoid a tank here because the North-East has to be the lightest part of the house for a balance of positive energies.
Avoid the Overhead water tank in the South-East corner. Also, avoid the Overhead water tank in the North-West corner (if possible). However if it can be located only in
the North-West, then it should be small in size, of less height, and situated at a distance of at least two feet from the North-West corner. The Scientific Reason – The basic rule in Vastu is that the building should be higher in the South and West sides and should be much lower in the North and East sides. By keeping the North and East sides much lower, constant sunlight from the North and morning sunlight from the East can reach all parts of the house, whereas by raising the building on the South and West sides, the hot evening sun will be prevented from heating up the rest of the house.
Avoid the Overhead tank in the centre of the building (Bramhasthan) - as it is a load on Bramha, the supreme one. The Scientific Reason - Structurally it is not safe to have a water tank in the middle of the house roof, unless it is a column-beam structure.
WHAT ARE THE VASTU GUIDELINES FOR THE DESIGN OF AN OVERHEAD WATER TANK?
The Overhead tank should not directly rest on the roof slab: The Scientific Reason – In case there is a leak in the tank, the dampness can seep into the building causing structural damage and fungus growth which is not good for the health of the family.
The Overhead tank should be at least 2′ (60cm) above the topmost roof slab: The Reason - The higher the water tank is above the building, the greater will be the pressure of water, thus enabling the water to flow in full force in all the taps.
The Overhead water tank can be lined with light coloured tiles: The Logic – This will ensure cleanliness of the tank, as it is easy to maintain and there is less likelihood of growth of fungus. Moreover, the white tiles allow one to see all the dirt while cleaning.
Avoid plastic water tanks as far as possible: The Scientific Reason – We are still not sure about the health hazards of storing water in plastic containers. But today because of the convenience of plastic tanks and the inevitable leakage of concrete tanks, we are seeing more and more plastic water tanks.
In case you use plastic water tanks, use black or dark blue coloured ones: The Scientific Reason – Dark colours generally absorb the sun’s rays which are useful in purifying the water, due to the UV rays.
Two seperate Overhead water tanks are preferred – One , for storing water for drinking, cooking etc and the other, for storing water for bathrooms, gardens etc: The Logic – Nowadays, due to the shortage of piped water, it is advisable to use this water only for cooking and drinking purposes, as it is generally chlorinated, purified water. The water from an additional water source, like Well or Borewell within the site can be used for Bathrooms and Toilets as you may not be sure of the purity. Naturally the water from theses two sources should not mix and so it is better to have two separate tanks.
The Solar geyser should be above the level of the overhead water tank: to ensure proper flow of water, and all the equipment attached to the same should be installed in the South-East of the roof. The Scientific Reason – Since the South East is considered the corner representing Fire, ‘Vastu pundits’ generally recommend that all electrical and heat related appliances be placed in the South-East. That is the only scientific explanation!
The Overhead tanks are located on top of the roof and are accessed by the Staircase. Read the Vastu Guidelines for a Staircase here:
Vastu construction – boundary and well or pump
Construction: After choosing and purchasing land, plants should be grown on the land. Also, if possible, keep a cow and her calf on the land for a while to make it more auspicious.
Before starting the construction a Bhoomi Pooja ritual should be performed. The land should be installed at an auspicious time, during an auspicious constellation. Mondays and Thursdays are auspicious days for such rituals. Ideally, a qualified astrologer should set the time of installation.
Worship should be done in the northeast corner of the land.
Before installing the land, it should be cleared. Dirt, stones, holes in the ground, and trash should be removed. Thorny bushes should also be uprooted and removed.
The installation should not be done if a woman in the household is more than seven months pregnant. The groundbreaking ceremony for the house should only be done during the Uttarayan period, when the sun is in the northern hemisphere, and when the days are longer than the nights, from June 21 through December 20.Construction should not stop once it begins. Workers should not be unnecessarily pushed to speed up their work; work for the day should stop at sunset. No construction should be done at night. A qualified engineer should always oversee the construction.
Building materials should be stored in the southwest corner of the property during construction. The storage area or structure can also be built in the southeast corner, at least 1m (3 ft) from the property boundary. The guard should stay in a house in the southeast corner. Thieves will be a danger if the guard stays in the northwest corner, and the guard should not stay in the southwest corner.
Order of construction: the well, the storage house, and then the boundary wall.
Building Material
Only new bricks, wood, and materials should be used when building a new house. Materials from an old building should not usually be used to build a new one in case those old materials repeat negative incidents that occurred in the old house. There is unhappiness in using old things. If there are old materials available, better to sell them and use the money to buy new materials.
Wood from thorny trees should not be used, as it will have a negative effect. Materials that have been stored for a long time should also not be used. Iron grills should only be used when needed.
Well or Water Source
It is advised that the first construction project for the new house is to dig the well. If water is used from this well for the construction, it is auspicious for the family who will live in the house. It is best that the well or water source is on the north or northeast side of the land, or if water comes from the municipality, it should enter from the northeast side. If you draw a line from the southeast corner to the northeast corner, the well should be to the right or left of the line, not on it.
The well can also be in the north or east sides of the property. The well should not be in the northwest or southeast corners, as this is inauspicious. It is especially inauspicious if the well is dug in the southwest corner. It is also inauspicious to have a well in the middle of a house.
Wells should be round. Ideally, the well water should be exposed to sunlight for five hours a day. It is not recommended to share wells between two properties.
The well should be dug after puja (worship) has been performed on the land at an astrologically auspicious time. This will insure that the water will be pure.
The well should be dug under an auspicious star, such as Rohini, Hasta, Uttara Bhadrapada, Uttara, etc. It should be dug on an auspicious day—a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. The well should be dug during a downward-facing constellation or star, such as, Krittika, Purva Phalguni, Mula, Bharani, Ashlesha, Purva Bhadrapada, or Purvashadha.Water departing from the kitchen and bathroom should flow to the northeast and leave the house from this side.
Storage Room
The storage areas should be located in the northwest part of the building, but not in the north or east. The storage room door should not be on the southwest side of the room. Storage cabinets should be located on the west or north sides of the room. Butter, ghee, oil, and cooking gas should be kept in the southeast corner.
Compound Wall and Gate
The compound wall should be built before the house is constructed. Construction should begin during an auspicious constellation, and on a favorable day—a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. It should also be begun during an auspicious day of the lunar month—Pratipada, Panchami, Shashthi, Dashami, Ekadashi, or Purnima. The compound wall should not be higher than the house, and construction of it should begin on the southwest side.
The southwest part of the wall should be higher than the rest of the wall. The walls on the north and east sides should be 53cm (21 inches) shorter than on the west and south sides. If this is not possible, then the north and east sides should be a minimum of 8cm (3 inches) shorter.
Do not set the gate on the south side. It is best that there are two gates to the compound, so evil things entering one gate will exit from the other.
Obstructions in front of the main gate: Several types of obstructions before the main gate must be avoided as they give rise to the following problems according to Brahusanhita & Vasturaja Vallabha.
Big Tree – obstruction to the progress of children,
Gutter or Ditch – grief,
Open well – mental problem,
Corner of another building – mental unrest,
Water drain – draining of income by unwanted expenses,
Straight street – affecting longivity of inmates,
Dilapitated house or walls – affecting prosperity,
Staircase railings – sadness,
Pillars; Electric and telephone post – affecting females.
These are called Vedha Doshas. But in between the plot and obstacles if there is a public road, these deficiencies are nullified.
Similarly, if the distance between the obstacles and the house is two times the height of the house, these deficiencies will have no effect. For example, if the height of the house is 11 feet and if the obstructions are more than 22 feet away, Vedh Dosha does not occur.
Vastu for garden, trees and plants
Trees & plants: Plants should be planted during auspicious constellations. It is ideal to plant during the bright half, i.e., close to full moon. Saplings should first be planted in clay pots and only later placed in the ground. This enables them to grow better.
It is always good to grow a Tulasi plant on one’s property. Tulasi should be located on the north, northeast, or east sides of the house, or in front of the house. Trees should not be planted directly in front of the house’s main entrance. There should be an even number of trees on one’s property, not an odd number. Trees should be planted on the south or west sides of the house. Ideally, they should be planted on both these sides rather than on only one side. It is not good to plant a tall tree on the north, northeast, or east sides of a building.
Smaller trees may be planted on the east or north sides, but no trees should be planted in the northeast corner. Tall trees should not be too close to a building as they block the sunlight. A tree’s shadow should not fall on the house. Large trees should not be located too near the house as their roots can damage the foundation and compound wall. Also, the roots of large trees absorb sunlight quickly, meaning these positive rays will not be received by the building. Do not allow tree branches to touch the house.
Stone sculptures and rock gardens should be located on the southwest side of the house because they are heavy.
Thorny plants should not be planted near the house. Cactus should not be planted at all. Thorny plants other than roses have a negative energy. Ideally all thorny plants should be pulled up and destroyed.
A list of good trees to plant: coconut, neem, betal, sandalwood, lemon, pineapple, bilva, almond, jackfruit, pomegranate, mango, amla, and katha.
Banyan and Pipal (Aswatha) are sacred trees; they should usually only be planted near a temple or at a sacred place.
Creepers or other plants should not be grown by using the building or compound wall as support. Creepers should only be grown in a garden, and they should have their own independent supports.
If a tree must be removed because it is inauspicious or for other reasons, it should be removed in the months of Magh or Bhadrapada. The day before cutting the tree, worship it and express regret that it must be removed from its rooting. Promise to plant a new tree in its place. Do so within three months. When cutting the tree, it should fall east or north, not south or west.
Vastu Toilet and bath room
Bathroom & Toilet
Bathrooms can be on the west or north west sides of the building, but not on the eastern or north eastern sides. The toilet room should also not be located on the south east, the south west, or in the center of the building.
The morning sun falling on the body after bathing is good, so windows should be set in the north or east sides of the room.
Ideally, toilets should face south, not east or west (in the direction of the sun). The toilet should be located on the west or northwest side of the room and should be built 30–60cm (1 or 2 feet) above the ground. An attached bathroom should be on the west or northwest side of a room, never on the northeast side.
Sinks should be placed on the northeast, north, or east sides of the room. Bathtubs should be located on the northeast, west, or east sides.
Bathroom walls should be painted white, sky blue, or another light shade. Do not use black or dark red.
Water should leave the bathroom from the east or northeast side. Water should not leave from the southwest or southeast directions. The overhead septic tank should be on the northwest side of the house.
Vastu – Garage and servant quarters
Outside of Main Building: It is best if the house is built on the southwest section of the land. Any open space should be to the north and east. Open space on the west side of the land is not good for the family’s male members.
It is also good to keep a tulasi plant in the northeast corner.The electric generators should be situated on the southeast section of the plot, not the northeast, which is inauspicious. Loud machinery should not be placed near the house.
If there is to be a swimming pool, waterfalls, or fountains, they should be set to the north, east, or northeast. Gardens, plants, or the lawns should also be set to the north, east, or northeast. Plants should be less than 1m (3 ft) in height. Swings should be to the north or east, and should swing from east to west.Outdoor seats should be placed in the south or west of the open area, and people should face north or east while sitting.
It is considered inauspicious to block the entrance to a house, such as with a tree or telephone pole. If one of these things is more than twice the distance of the house’s height away, it will not have any effect.Trash or dirty water should not be kept near a house’s entrance (or the entrance to a place of business), and neither should it be kept near the property’s entrance. An unclean stream or pool of unclean water should not be located in front of the house.Annexes or outhouses should not be on the north or east sides of the house, and they definitely should not touch the eastern or northern boundary walls.
A garage, building, or servants’ quarters built separately from the house should be located to the southeast or northwest of the main house but should not touch any of the boundary walls. Ideally such quarters should not touch the southeast corner, but should be slightly west (without touching the east wall). They should also not touch the northwest corner but should be slightly south (without touching the north wall). They should be established about 1m (3 ft) from the wall.
Parking: Cars should be parked facing east or north. A car should never be parked facing south. If a car is parked facing west or northwest, the owner will spend a long time traveling.
The parking lot should be in the northwest corner of the property. It should not be located to the southwest or northeast. Parking can also be located in the basement, on the north or east side.
A parking garage should not be connected to the compound wall or the main building.
The parking garage should be painted a light color, not a dark color
Vastu for Water Sump Bore Well:
A Water Bore Well or water sump should be dug after performing proper pooja's. Deep wells are considered good. The water available in a deep well will be pure and rich in minerals. The slow moving water body or fountain in front of
the house is very auspicious. It is a vastu principle that well should be in the north east of every house. That may be eastern north east or northern northeast.
Utmost caution should be shown in regard to well or bore well. The shape of the well can be a square or round below the ground, but it should be round on
surface. If it is a square, one of the four angles will cause a thrust to the house. The shape of the platform of the well should be less elevated than the plinth level of the house and ground level of the area in southwest. The platform should not
touch the eastern or northern compound walls.
The spots for digging a well:A well has to be dug in the area as per vaastu. A well or bore well should not be dug on the diagonal line proceeding from the north eastern corner of a house to the north eastern tip of the plot. It should be located either to the right or to the left of the line as per the availability of space in the east or north of the north eastern portion of the plot under no circumstances should a well or bore well be in the angle of north east. If there is a pump set in the north east, it should have roof. This should not touch north or east walls. If well or bore well or any pit is situated in the northern north east the family will be happy, will prosper, and have sound finances and enjoy these benefits for many generations. The situation of well or bore well in eastern north east will make the master of the house famous along with bestowing the above benefits. Some sink well or bore well near the house adjoining it, thinking that it is in north east anyway. (This matter is came from www.subhavaastu.com) But it is wrong. The well or bore well should be in the north east for the entire plot or area. In some cases there are meager chances of digging a well or bore well. In such cases they can be had in the east. “A well in the east – all good omens feast”. A well in the north is also good. Well in the north all benefits will be brought forth. This will bless womenfolk. See these designs of wells as per vastu. A well or bore well in the south is strictly forbidden. It will lead to the untimely death of women. No well or bore well in the west should be there. Man will become diseased and incurs financial losses. A well or pit in eastern south east will result in the ill health of the matter of the house and children. Further it may cause fire accidents and thefts. By a well in southern south east, women will fall sick, incur financial losses, fall into bad habits and there will be the threat of fire accidents and thefts. If there is a well or pit in the southern south west, the women, folk suffer from terrible ill health. There will be loss of money. There will be indebtedness. They meet premature death. If any well or pit is there in the western south west, the land lord will suffer from chronic diseases and they become bad characters. They may meet untimely death. A well or a pit in western northwest will effect the men. They will be bad characters, they suffer financial losses, court litigation and thefts. They will have no peace of mind. If there is a well or pit in northern northwest enmity will increase, women will have no mental peace or they may leave the house and such undesirable things come up. Some people cite irrelevant matters from ancient books and support the incongruous points as standard in their books. It is a tested and proved point that it is better for the site of construction to be more in the west than in the east and south more elevated than in the north. But some contemporary writes on vaastu suggest that wells or bore wells should be sunk in east, north east or north or even in west by citing old treatises like Kalamrita, Vasishta, Smahita, Sanathakumara vasthu and Vaastuchintamani. It is cited in
them the places that the well or bore would be in east, north, northeast and west. But a well in the west does cause a pit there. So suggetsing that a thing is bad in some places and the same thing as good in some places is self contradictory. (This matter is came from www.subhavaastu.com) How should one understand this? We come across such incongruous arguments in some books. The argument that Varuna is the lord of the west and so a well can find place there is meaningless. Suppose a well or a bore well or undesirable pits are there in wrong directions, it is inevitable that they should be closed and covered. But some people cover a cement slab on a well to close it. Some place wooden bars on the well and cover it with earth. But it is wrong to cover the surface without filling the inside with earth or other material. They should be filled with earth or other material and then covered with slabs. But there will be a gap in them with the passage of time. Then again it should be filled and covered.
The Best ideal Place for Water Sump:
Observe this flash file, here the house is at Nairuthi corner, and the Water sump with round shape has came into East Eshan corner of the Compound corner, results is: good health, richness,
name and fame. There is one red line running from house to compound wall corner, that means we should not construct the water sump in that place. We have to left that place and construct the water sump at East Eshan place or North Eshan place.

Here the water sump came into North Eshan place, this is auspicious for well, and the results is richness, always money flow, good health etc
There are some other places for water sump, those are Eshan, east and north sides, before constructing water sump at East and North sides please get a right suggestion from one experienced vastu consultant .Observe the below images, from this you may understand why we should not dig the water sump at Northeast corner exactly, this explanation will you clarification.
In the above image there is a compound wall and a house is inside the compound wall. There is a very less space in between the compound wall and house. For your understand purpose we write the "Water Sump"
in red colour.
Here the sump shape has changed, actually this shape of sump may be good, but here it is not recommended.
In the above image the distance between house and compound wall has changed, due to this spacious place in compound we may take a decision to dig the water sump at northeast corner. The distance will save
the construction.
Here the water sump shape has changed, here also you can decide to dig the sump like this, there is a lot of distance in between the house and compound wall.
In the above image, we can clearly observe the distance in between the house and compound corner, so there may not be any damage to the construction, due to this idea, we may dig sump at northeast corner as
discussed in above two images.
In the above image we can clearly observe a less distance in between the house and compound wall. So it is not recommended to construct or dig any water sumps in northeast corners. That will be damage to the construction. If the construction is not so secured, bad vaasthu power will raises. So consult one expert
vastu consultant before ordering to dig your house, it may damage to your pocket also.
After all observastions in the above images, it is suggested that without taking any risks, it is better to have the water sump as shown in the above image. But any how its better to consult a competent vstu scholar
before doing any job in your sweet home.

1. Sump within the compound and centering positions :
The above image is a one house with compound wall, now we are going to make it 4 parts of this property for water sump purpose, this will helps us to know some more information on this Vastu science. After
making 4 parts of the entire property, then we can easily understand where the sump has to come and what the logic to dig a water sump towards northeast corner. Please observe the house sitting position in the
compound wall and the empty space inside the compound wall.
Observe the center point of the compound wall with white marks here. This is the right position to evaluate the center point or four parts of the house. "1" represents Northeast corner of the compound wall. "2"
represents Southeast corner of the compound wall. "3" represents Northwest part of the compound wall. "4" represents Southwest part of the Compound wall. This is the exact evaluation of parts of the compound wall. Because the inmates of this property have rights on the house and compound wall, and both are under one owner (inmate) only. Now we will check up where the sump has to come and which is the best position here
to have or dig the sump here. Now we are going to dig a sump at northeast corner i.e., "1" in the above image. Now again make it 4 parts of the northeast corner.
Now we have done again 4 parts of the "1" i.e., northeast corner of the compound wall. Here the northeast part of the northeast corner namely "1a" , southeast part of the northeast corner i.e., "2a", Northwest part of the northeast corner i.e., "3a", southwest part of the northeast corner i.e., "4a". Now we got the exact corner to have sump here. The "1a" is the exact position to dig the sump in any part of the property, but there are
some more relaxation in some other properties that we will discuss later. Here "2a" and "3a" is also suitable to dig the sump. If inmates will dig the sump at "1a " here that means the water is at exactly towards
northeast corner of the compound wall, an Auspicious alteration done at this house.
Now Water sump or water body has came into northeast part of the northeast corner of the compound. This is the exact water sump placement at house. Still there are certain in-depth rules to have water sump here. We will learn all the things here. Any way we reached the exact position of the water sump in a house with
compound wall.
Here the water sump or water body has came into Southeast part of the northeast corner of the compound wall. This is also a good position. There is nothing to worry about placement of water sump or water body
here.
Here the water sump or water body has placed at northwest part of northeast corner of the compound wall. This method is also good, there is nothing to worry about this placement.
Now we will check out what is the position if the water sump has came into southwest part of the northeast corner of a compound wall.
Here water sump placed towards southwest part of the northeast corner of the compound wall. Any way as per the above image, this water sump has came towards northeast corner in the entire compound wall. But here the "Aya" is too important, while constructing the water sump exactly towards Southwest part of the northeast corner of the compound wall. This sump is almost adjacent to Plinth area.Now observe a small graph type water sump or water storage places in our properties.
The entire northeast is marked as white area and red occupied gradually towards southwest area. It indicates that the southwest parts are not good for water sumps. Along with this direction the south, west, northwest and southeast portions and finally the middle part (Brahmasthan) areas we should not construct the water sumps.
Here the entire East is clear with white mark or marked with white in colour and gradually red occupied the entire west part, so the water sump is suitable at entire east here, but it should be finalised by vastu expert only, residents should not take any decision.
Here the entire North is clear with white mark or marked with white in colour, so the water sump is suitable at entire North here and gradually red occupied the entire South part, but this method of construction should be finalised by vastu expert only, residents should not take any decision in the absense of Vastu Expert.
The above graph indicates the Water storage excellent levels or danger levels in a property White areas marked are excellent in results and red areas are dangerous, regarding north and east total white areas, without expert vastu consultant one should not do construct these directions places as entire water sump area. It should be personally verified by the expert vastu consultant and after that only decision has to be
taken. Please note that this is approximate levels, it is not prepared according to scale. The water storage comes to up and downs in a property, so before going to do any alteration in a property please approach
one expert vastu consultant and obtain his guidance. Once mistake happens in the name of this digging in a property, it may causes to mental tensions and money loss to rectify the same. Regarding the results
already we shown it with red mark.One property with having full of water sump at east side. The property is rectangular property, which is
having 60 X 100 .. in this property the plinth area is 40X40 with duplex house and having total 5 bedrooms. The residents are more healthy and wealthy, these property owners taken experts opinion after showing this
plot.
Here you may please observe the water sump at East Direction, almost entire east direction is water storage sump. These residents require heavy water storage sump, it is in Rajasthan. If the property is rectangular then we can try to have a large water storage sump at entire east sides, but it should be done in the presence of expert vastu consultant. Why because if there is any street focus / veedhi drishi / sula is hitting the property that to northeast east or northeast or east focus and here the directions say about North, South, East, West are also taken into consideration for doing these method of constructions, otherwise this entire sump may not be advised. From starting we are requesting every body that, it is better to have experts opinion for all of your thoughts and future security.

Vastu for Compound Wall:People have got wrong ideas or opinions that if the compound wall is made before the construction of house it will cause inconvenience or difficulty for construction work and may bring the situation for the sale of the plot. But this is really good. No need for panic or doubt. It is usual practice to construct compound wall after the construction of main building. This will do if the levels of the plot satisfy the ideal requirements of vastu. Also, in the plot enclosed by already constructed buildings, the compound wall can be built at the end of construction.But if your plot is sloping towards south or west or southwest and there is no existing neighbouring constructions then first get you plot leveled according to the principles of vaastu shastra and build a compound wall before starting construction of the main building. The compound wall should not be rounded at the northeast corner though it can make an acute angle here. It can safely be built in a rounded shape in the southwest corner but rounding should be avoided in the northwest and southeast corners. that maximum height of compound wall is available at the southwest corner and minimum at northeast corner. If steps coincide with the particular sector, it will be called a good vasthu. It also looks nice from aesthetical point of view. You can go for lesser thickness of compound wall in north and east with greater thickness in the south and west.Alternatively, use heavy building materials like stone boulders in south and west while use light materials e.g. honeycomb brick structure in north and east. A compound wall acts like a barrier for all types of forces whether good or bad. So it your are not facing the privacy problem, go for some light fencing in the north and east directions.Avoid building solid compound wall here. These directions are the entry points of benefic solar and magnetic radiations. If your plot is north facing and road is sloping from west to east, there is no necessity of constructing a boundary wall in the northern direction. On the other hand, if slope is from east to west or from north to south, it is better to construct a compound wall.For safety reasons, always construct a barricade in the north and east directions where compound wall is not recommended. It is not considered good to place heavy earthen flower pots on the compound wall, especially in the north and east directions.

Vastu for Septic Tank :Septic tank has to be constructed as per vastu, so many in previous day has constructed the septic tank at south, west , southwest, vayavya corners, and the septic tank should be constructed in the paishacha area; the open area all around the building. It should not be exactly in the north-east, southeast, southwest, northwest and Brahamsthana. Any faulty construction of septic tank in the northeast may spoil the ground water sources. Its foul smell, mixed with benefit solar and magnetic radiations, will enter the house. In the southeast, kitchen is considered best. The activities of creation in the kitchen don’t match with the activities of destruction in the septic tank.In olden days there was no septic tank for toilets. Today they have become necessary. For modern septic tanks a pit has to be dug. It is to be in the north or east. In no other direction should it be sunk. If latrine is planned for in the east, away from eastern compound wall in line with the house, without touching its wall. The pit has to be sunk in the east measuring half the area. South west is the most suitable place for toilets. This is the recorded in our ancient texts. Modern writers have transported the same in their book, because they lack experience. Septic tank should be arranged in the north without touching compound or house, in the middle of the open area. Similarly in the east also. Latrines without pits can be there in the south west. No harm, but they should be in height position than the ground level of the house flooring. First preference has to be placed to constructed the septic tank is middle east or middle north only. The remaining parts are not yet suggested. But today a pit is required for septic tanks, but then a pit in the south west is wrong as per vaastu. Not only wrong but very harmful. If latrine is planned in the south west it should be on a higher level without pit and pit can be arranged in one half of the north. Or in one half of the east. If latrine is planned for north west it should not touch north wall and compound wall. A room should be built alongside the house and also septic tank can be in one half of the north. Toilets can be arranged as shown in the models here. The latrine can face any direction but W.C. should be invariably to north and south. It is the best direction. It should never be towards east. It is not proper nor it is auspicious. Perfection vastu for home is always advisable There is a legend in the Ramayana which is worth mentioning here. Rama went in exile into forests along with Sita and Laxmana at the command of Dasaratha. Bharata returns from his grandfather’s place. He was pained to know that people suspected him for the exile of Rama. Then he swore “I”d fall into the worst place where people relieve themselves against the sun defiling the Lord, go”. So east is sacred. Evidence in Ayurveda also supports this. Latrines and bathrooms can be arranged inside the house as shown in this diagram.
Now let us see where the toilet septic tanks has to be placed in our house.Once we visited one Collector Bungalow, there we found that the septic tank has placed at southwest part of the compound. The effect of this septic tank at that place turned to instability to the Officer, that is why no one has completed

Now observe the house, here directions shown. Please keep it in mind, it helps in further images, anyway we have cleary mentioned the directions in every image.
For your informaiton only we have taken the North direction with an example dimensions like 100 feet or more than 30 metres. Generally in India most of the properties does not have more than 100 feet dimensions, but in several other countries it is very common that having more than 100 feet dimension plots.
For our understanding purpose we have taken the East direction dimension as 50 feet say about approximately 16 metres. Please note that the dimensions are only for your kind understanding purpose. The dimensions are not for scale.
Divide the property in four equal parts, (here we done the same, but it may not correct as per scale, and the image equal parts are approximately divided)
In north direction the septic tank has placed or constructed, near to the north wall. and very far to the center of the plot. Please keep it in mind.
Here the Septic Tank has placed near to the East and far from the center of the plot. Have you observe the east division center mark and septic tank center mark, may be the equal. This is the perfection of placement of septic tanks, like wise in North direction plot also the septic tank has placed, for more info, please observe the above image once.
The septic tank has near to the center point and far from the East direction. This is the wrong placement. Please note that septic tank always near to the East or North directions only. Regarding the dimensions residents are advice to consult one expert vastu consultant and procure the right information.
The red mark shown at the Southwest part of the property. At any cost the septic Tank should not be placed in Southwest part of the property, it leads to several bad effects to the residents or to the properties. In commercial properties also septic Tank (ST) should not be placed at Southwest portions. It may leads to financial crisis, accidents, bad habits, some times it causes to death, insecure feelings and much more.
Now we are traveling into the subject depth. The images shown in the website are approximate and for your kind information purpose only, it is not according to the scale. Please remind the same for further below study.
Here one red mark has shown in Northeast portion of the property and the same has not marked in two sides, those are the northwest and southeast parts of the northeast portion.
We should not place or construct the ST at northeast portion of the property.
Here Northwest portion shown with red mark and northeast portion of the northwest portion is not covered with red colour, it means the place is good for septic tank.
Here Southeast portion shown with red mark and northeast portion of the Southeast portion is not covered with red colour, it means the place is good for septic tank.
Center place in a plot is not good for septic tank construction. Please avoid in constructing the ST at center place or Brahmasthan.
Approximate exact portion of the Septic Tank at North portion. We shown ST with the help of some lines, in which the exact portion for constructing the ST. The place here is called as North portion of the Plot.
Please note that before taking any decision, it is suggested that better to approach one expert vastu consultant for secured future.

Think that a house is constructed at Southwest portion of a plot and the ST has to be constructed at north or east portion as mentioned in the above images, some times it is not possible to construct the Septic Tank at north or east portions. Then we have to find out the second placement of portion which is best suitable for ST. Please observe the line which parallel to the house and Septic tank. This is the second best placement or constructing of the ST.
Here also at East side, the second best opt for constructing the Septic Tank. Observe the line parallel to the house and ST. The Septic tank has not crossed the House South wall.
The wrong placement of the Septic Tank at East direction. The ST crossed the line of South wall of the house. It is wrong.
Here the Septic tank has crossed the West wall of the house. This is wrong placement of Septic Tank at north direction.
Please observe the wrong placement of the Septic tank at North direction. Observe the space which we provide for the ST at north, lesser space in between House and ST and more space in between the ST and North wall. This is wrong placement of ST.
Here right placement of the Septic tank at North direction. Observe the space which we provide for the ST at north, more space in between House and ST and lesser space in between the ST and North wall. This is right placement of ST.
Same as above, here in East direction, more space in between House and Septic Tank and lesser space at ST and East boundary wall.
The wrong placement or construction of Septic Tank at East direction. We should not provide more space in between the ST and East wall. It is wrong.
Please note that these images are not according to the scale. So don't follow these same principles as per your property dimensions, because dimensions are too important while constructing the ST.
The depth secret here works with Septic tank and water storage sump. The water storage sump at Northeast portion of the property is very good. But we must calculate each and every thing before constructing several facilitation in our property. The septic tank and water sump should not be constructed very near to each other, we must provide more distance between them. So what we do now, please observe the below image. It will clarify this doubt.If the water sump and Septic tank are very near then there is a possibility of mixing the dung with water, it is too danger for humans. So be careful before constructing the septic tank and water storage sumps.
Here the Septic tank placed at same east direction and the water sump has changed to northeast north side. In above image the Water sump is at northeast east side. Provide more space in between ST and water sump.
The same principle applies at North direction. ST here constructed at North direction and water sump placed towards northeast east direction it is not at northeast north direction.
There are several secrets in placement of the Septic Tank in the properties, before constructing the ST, we must calculate the dimensions of the property, in some properties the dimensions may be 100 meters or 200 meters at north direction and 100 or 200 meters at East direction, at that moment or in those cases how to construct the ST, shall we consider the entire site dimension or only house dimensions, so it is better to consult one expert before taking the decision. Vastu shastra provides several house construction tips if we follow them we enjoy security and happiness.
