Ch arac ter i s t i c s

DesignFilling filter: cylinder screen - flow direction from center to outside. Ventilating filter: Flow direction bi-directional (air IN / OUT). The star- shaped pleating of the filter material results in: • largefiltersurfaces • lowpressuredrop • highdirt-holdingcapacities • longservicelife

Ordering options / versionsIntegratedoil-leveldipstick Adipstickcanbeintegratedintheventilatingfilterforcheckingtheoillevel.Therefore,aseparatedipstickoranadditionalopeninginthetankisnot required.

Doublecheckvalveintheventilatingfilter: Bytheuseofdoublecheckvalves,theexchangeofairbetweenthetankandtheenvironmentisconsiderablyreduced,wherebytheingressofdustis minimized and the lifetime of the air filter element is increased. Withthedoublecheckvalve,anover-pressureiscreatedinthetankinordertoimprovethesuctionconditionsforthepumps.Afurtheradvantageisthereductionofspraywateringressandthelossofoilthroughtheventilatingfilter.

Vandalismproofversion“Standard”(LE.0818):Ventilatingfiltersinthepatentedvandalismproofversioncanonlyberemovedwith the special spanner supplied (A/F 47). Vandalismproofversion“EasyLock”(L1.0819):Ventilatingfiltersinthepatented“EasyLock”versioncanonlyberemovedwith the special pin supplied.Thismakesthemisuseoftheventilatingfilterortheingressofdirtviathefilling/ventilationopeningconsiderablymoredifficult.

MaintenanceVentilatingfiltersshouldbechangedatleastevery1000operatinghours,or at minimum once a year.

ApplicationFilling/ventilationoftanksforhydraulicandlubricationsystemsaswellasgearboxes.

GeneralTheoillevelsinthetanksofhydraulicsystemsaresubjecttocontinuousvariationduetotemperaturechangesandtheoperationofcylindersandpressurevessels.Inordertopreventoverpressureinthetanks,anexchangeofairwith theexternalatmosphereisnecessary.Bytheuseofaventilatingfilter, the outside air that is drawn in is filtered and the ingress of dust is there- foreprevented.Acombinedfillingfilterpreventscoarseimpuritiesfromenteringduringfilling or re-filling due to maintenance or repair.

Special featuresThe profiled metal flange with elastomer sealing and the mounting with 6 screwsensurethatthefilling/ventilatingfilterssealreliable,evenonnon-flattanksurfaces.Fillerscreensmadeofsturdyexpandedmetaloffersafetyduringfillingofthetank–whichexcludesanydamagebeingcaused,forexample,bythefillerneck.Theventilatingfilterisfixedbyachainatthefillingfiltertopreventitfrombeinglost(exception:LE.0716).Theventilationopeningsoftheventilatingfiltersaredesignedthatdustonthesurfaceofthetankisnotdrawnin,andthattheingressofsprayandrainwaterislargelyprevented.Thepatentedvandalismproofventilatingfilterscanonlyberemovedwiththespecialtoolsupplied.Thismakesthemisuseoftheventilatingfilterortheingressofdirtviathefilling/ventilationopeningconsiderablymorecontrolled.

Double check valvesBytheuseofdoublecheckvalves,theexchangeofairbetweenthetankandtheenvironmentcanbeconsiderablyreduced,wherebytheingressofdust is minimized and the lifetime of the air filter element is increased. Withthedoublecheckvalve,apredefinedlevelofpressurecanbecreatedinthetankinordertoimprovethesuctionconditionsforthepumps.Thevalveopeningpressurerequiredfortheventilatingfiltercanbeapproximatelydeterminedwiththeidealgasequationdependingonthefollowing system characteristics: • differentialvolume• volumeofoilinthesystem• volumeofairinthetank • operatingtemperaturesCalculationtoolavailable.

SizesThedeterminingfactorforselectingthesizeisthemaximumover/underpressureallowedinthetank. Forversionswithoutdoublecheckvalves,theinitialpressuredropwithacleanairfiltershouldnotexceed0.44psi. Forversionswithdoublecheckvalves,theinitialpressuredropforairINwithacleanairfiltershouldnotexceed1.45psi.

Filter finenessIntheidealcase,thefinenessoftheventilatingfiltermatchesthefinenessofthesystemfilter(seealsoCETOPRP98H). Bytheuseoffilterfineness2CLtheingressofdustintothetankis effectivelyreduced. MountingTheventilatingfiltershouldbemountedinalow-dustareaofthemachineand not in depressions in which water can collect. Formobileuse,theventilatingfilteristobemountedonthetanksuchthatneither splashing oil from the inside nor spray water from the outside can reachtheareaoftheventilationopening.
