nursing facilit!# provides a comfortable and supportive atmosphere for our Veterans. -t is operated under the direction of the Arkansas epartment of Veterans Affairs and has been approved and recogni/ed b!the Federal Veterans Administration as a 0ualified tate Veterans Home. The use of tobacco products are

not allowed inside the facilit!. However# the! do allow smoking in the designated area 7outside9 on theground floor. moking products and lighters are kept in a secure area. The! are not allowed in residentsrooms.

North Little Rock Veterans Home

Officials broke ground for the Arkansas tate Veterans Home at 2orth ittle 1ock 7AVH:219 on 'ul!

$8# $%(3 and is scheduled to open Fall $%(). -t is the first Veterans home in Arkansas developed from the

ground:up for the sole purpose of long:term care for our Veterans. AVH:21 is a Gsmall home design

with eight individual homes that serve ($ residents each. Each resident will have a private room and private bathroom. ess than one percent of long:term care facilities across the nation are built and

operated as small homes. The small home concept seeks to de:institutionali/e care and provide a warm#

home:like environment in a setting that encourages social activit!. As a result of the design# the operating

model differs substantiall! from that of a traditional skilled nursing facilit!. AVH:21 is currentl! not

an! state supported college# universit!# technical school# or vocational schoolJ to the wife and children of

an! Arkansan who has been declared to be @risoner of ar or placed in a missing:in:action status since

'anuar! (# (8)%. The same provisions appl! to the surviving spouse and children of an! Arkansas resident

killed in action since (8)%.

In State Tuition

Regardless of residence, a state-supported institution of higher education, trade schools, or

vocational schools shall classify a student as in-state, in-county, in-district, or resident for

the purpose of tuition and fees applicable for all programs of study, including distancelearning programs, if the student is a:

(1) Veteran who was discharged or released from a period of not 3 less than ninety

(!") days of active duty in the military, naval, or air service within three (3) years

before the date of enrollment in a program of study#
