The level of care provided includes personal care* s+illed nursing care* do#iciliary care* and de#entiacare. These facilities offer ,ualified veterans and their spouses dedicated* superior care.

An applicant shall be an eligible veteran* spouse or surviving spouse of an eligible veteran. An -eligibleveteran- is defined as an individual who has served in the Ar#ed Forces of the nited !tates or thePennsylvania 'ilitary Forces and was discharged under honorable conditions. An applicant shall be abona fide resident of the (o##onwealth of Pennsylvania or the eligible veteran or spouse of an eligibleveteran for who the (o##onwealth of Pennsylvania is his/her ho#e of record upon entry into the Ar#edForces of the nited !tates or the Pennsylvania 'ilitary Forces. (urrent residents have priority* however*in ad#ission. A resident of a state veterans ho#e shall be re,uired to #a+e #onthly pay#ents against#aintenance fee liability in accordance with the resident)s ability to pay.

The veteran #ust be a bona fide resident of the (o##onwealth when applying. !pouses and survivingspouses of eligible veterans #ay also apply. served in the Ar#ed Forces of the nited !tates during established war service dates or during peaceti#e

hostile fire or terrorist attac+ as deter#ined by the Depart#ent of 'ilitary and Veterans Affairs. pon the

recent death of a veteran* his widow or orphan children are eligible provided the veteran would have

,ualified prior to his/her death.

%eal $state a $em(tion

Any honorably discharged veteran who is a resident of the (o##onwealth shall be e"e#pt fro# the

pay#ent of all real estate ta"es levied upon any building* including the land upon which it stands*

occupied by hi# as his principal dwelling* provided that as a result of warti#e #ilitary service the

veteran has a 311 service0connected disability rating by the .!. Depart#ent of Veterans AffairsG that

such dwelling is owned by hi# solely or ointly with his spouse 7an estate by the entirety8G and that the

financial need for the e"e#ption fro# the pay#ent of real estate ta"es has been deter#ined by the !tate

Veterans) (o##ission. pon the death of the ,ualified veteran* the e"e#ption passes on to the un#arried

surviving spouse if the financial need can be shown.

Blin) Veterans Pension

Provides for a pension of 3C1.11 per #onth for a person who served in the #ilitary or naval forces of the

nited !tates* or wo#en)s organiIation officially connected therewith* who gave the (o##onwealth as

his/her place of residence when entering the #ilitary and while perfor#ing duties connected with the

service* suffered an inury or incurred a disease which resulted in loss of vision so that the visual acuity

with the best correcting lens is 6/:1 or 31/11 or e,uivalent* or less nor#al vision in the better eye. Jess

nor#al vision than 6/:1 or 31/11* or e,uivalent* includes circu#stances where the widest dia#eter of the

visual field of the better eye has contracted to such an e"tent that it subtends an angular distance of not

greater than 1K. The ter# does not include a person separated fro# the #ilitary or naval forces of the

nited !tates or a wo#en)s organiIation officially connected therewith under other than honorable

conditions.

Paraly*e) Veterans Pension

Provides for a pension of 3C1.11 per #onth for any person separated under honorable conditions fro#

the Ar#ed Forces of the nited !tates* who gave the (o##onwealth of Pennsylvania as his or her place

of residence at ti#e of entering the #ilitary or naval forces of the nited !tates* and who currently resides

in Pennsylvania. Veterans ,ualify for the pension if they suffered an inury or disease resulting in the loss

or loss of use of two or #ore e"tre#ities 7ar#s/hands or legs/feet8.

$)ucation Benefits

$)ucational "ratuity

Pay#ent of educational gratuities are for children of honorably discharged veterans who have beencertified by the .!. Depart#ent of Veterans Affairs as having warti#e service0connected disabilities

rated as totally and per#anently disabled or children of veterans who die or have died of war service0connected disabilities or died in service during a period of war or ar#ed conflict. (hildren #ust be

between the ages of 3: and 6* living within the (o##onwealth five years prior to application and #ust
